Putting non-reduced items in the reduced section at Tescos

You know when you're snooping through the reduced section in Tesco and you go &quot;ooooohhh&quot; at something, only to pick it up and find that it's not reduced? In the back of my mind I always blamed the staff for not labeling it correctly, but yesterday we bumped in to the guy who's responsible. He saw something better in the reduced section, so swapped it for a full price item in his basket, placing the non-reduced item in the reduction section. He's blonde and beardy, just to you know. <!-- s:scratch: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cats/scratch.gif" alt="scratch" title="scratch" /><!-- s:scratch: -->

I hate them... It's when you've got to sift through loadsa good-looking but full-price stuff to realise that there's no proper reductions..

Has anyone ever been guilty of sticking a reduced sticker on a non reduced item just so you can afford it?

I can't remember if I've ever done it personally, but when people have told me they've done it I've just laughed and wished I was brave enough too. I hold no bones about doing that to a big company that can take it, especially if it's already in the for sale section.

You just have to be careful you swap the prices on something similar, like two black jerseys. You can't swap the price on a coat for a pair of knickers for example, as the barcode thing'd detect you.

I think placing really tempting-looking items in the reduced section, then watching for people's reactions when they realise that they're full-price would be interesting. I'm sure you'd get everything from bloodthirsty rage to manic denial, looking around for some staff member to tell them that it's alright - it's just a mistake.

That item is really reduced.

You can go home with it, for cheap.

Well I have had the non pleasure of working in Tesco and other retail places and I hate you M************s hahaha If someone came to my till with an item that was priced incorrectly, I would tell them, well it's scanning at such and such a price BLEH Actually, it all depends on the person really, some people I would have given the discount to and some I wouldn't. If it was a young studenty type I would, a rich cheap looking fecker then no way man!
You can tell with some stickers if they have been moved and they give out daily posters to us about what is on sale so we do know. lol I speak as if I still work there, that was in 99! eughh
When you work somewhere like that you either hate everyone that comes in the door, or you hate the place so much you just don't give a crap!

yeah I have gotta say it's irritating when someone blames the shop assistants for that. I work in a clothes store and if something from the £10 sale section is put in the £5 section and then they find out it's £10 they get REALLY mad and I hate it cause it's not like we can be making sure of it all the time, and more often than not it's just that someone has put it back in the wrong section. But we always get the blame for it and get yelled at =(

just found this thread- yeah, was in Tesco tother week and half the stuff was reduced, half not! Which angered me, because there was some very tempting dairy products in there. When I worked at Co-Op (don't ever) I'll have you know the reductions were done three times a day (and I used to phone my Mum who'd come round to get all the bargains! Teamwork that is.)
Yeah Roma I have put stickers on another item - plenty o'times, in a certain well-known clothing outlet...

This just happened to me yesterday...I went into the store and found the perfect button up purple sweater on a rack that said 85% off...when I got to the till it was $72...still full price. Arrrgghhh. So, I definitely didn't get the sweater. Oh well, perhaps when spring really comes to Minnesota it will go on sale.
zootm....I never thought of messing up a rack just to people watch, it sounds positively evil, but would be ammusing to watch the people's reactions! Happy
And, I've thought about switching sale tickets a couple of times, but I'm a chicken and haven't done it.

I did it!
I changed the 10$ sticker on a package of sparkly crayola paper to a 3$ one yesterday!
It was at a liquidation place, though.
Anyway, I am so rebelious!
hahaha.
