Cramps and how to kick them?

Owe I hate period cramps so I was wondering what tricks you all use when yours kick in?

At the moment my only secret weapons are chocolate, hot water bottles and cranberry juice!

Avoid caffeine.
Mine used to be really bad, but then I started taking BC pills, and they're not nearly as bad.
But if they do get tough for me, I usually change into loose clothes and drink some chamomile tea.

chamomile tea, not eating meat and striving to eat lots of veggies on those days has really helped me. stretching out.

*Yoga.
*Evening Primrose Oil
*Lots of water!
*Limiting sugar, alcohol, salt, and caffeine helps me.
*Birth control if your up for it. Get the lowest dose you can.
*Heating pad and even kneading your belly gently help as well.

Since I went vegetarian I hardly ever have cramps.

LOTS of water
No caffeine
heating pad
pain killers if needed, not the ones designed for periods since they do nothing for me
rest if you can

Wow you've all opted for really healthy options. I don't eat meat anyway but will definitely try chamomile tea - is there any particular reason why that works so well?

I get pains so bad i have been in the hospital with them! The only thing that has ever worked for me is Co-codamol and a hot water bottle.

I'm a vegetarian and I still have super bad cramps. I have to take pain killers though like oxycodone and such. But I find heating pads comfort them to a point where I can at least stand them.

My mom use to heat up a little towel in the microwave. It always made me feel better and in the warmer months I usually take my dog on a walk. Light exercise is supposed to help and I find that it usually does.

I usually try lots of water and exercises or hot water bottles, if all that fails then I get out the painkillers Tongue

My last one I took one ibuprofen in the morning and I didn't have one cramp. Happy

Hm, I think I'll try to walk my dog too. Or my hamster, if he ever gets the concept of a leash ;) I'm determined! ha

I have a bag of lavender that I heat up in the microwave and use as a hot water bottle

The heating pad is your friend! I even take a tube sock filled with rice to work (heat it in the micro).
My other stand by is work. The busier I am, the less I notice them. I manage a bed and breakfast, and try to make sure I do plenty of physical work on the crampy days as it really does help, though I don't always feel like it at first! :p
I've used a Diva cup (LOVE IT!) for years, and it hasn't helped with the cramps, but I have uterine cysts...
My husband and I went 75% raw a month ago, and I honestly had NO cramps this month. That tells me diet plays a MAJOR role.
