Name change...

After years of selling my creations, through word of mouth, under "Handcrafted by Heather", I've decided to take the plunge and open a webstore/blog etc. But I want a decent name. Lets face it - "Handcrafted by Heather" sucks!

My current lines include jewellery, cards, memory books, little stuffed fabric trinkets (owls/hearts etc). Everything is handcrafted, and I like to try and keep to OOAK. I make use of a large variety of bought/recycled/upcycled/found materials and embellishments and try to stock a diverse range of goods.

I'd like a name that shows what i do (HANDCRAFTED, ONE OF A KIND, WIDE RANGE) without limiting the diversity of what i produce now or in the future, or peoples perception of this. For this reason I'm steering clear of anything that gives the idea that i only do, say, gifts or cards or sewn...

So far I've discounted lots of great ideas ( I liked Crafty Allsorts!) because they're already in use but have a short-list.
I'd really appreciate any feedback or ideas!!

SHORTLISTED NAMES ARE:
THE CRAFTY BESOM
CRAFTY LASS DESIGNS
THE ECLECTIC EMPORIUM OF CRAFTY DELIGHTS

Well, you don't want a name that's too long. Something that rolls right off the tongue is usually a good name because people will remember it.
My fiance's mom used to have a flower shop that was pretty popular. Her shop's name was "Real, Nice Flowers." Not many people would understand the grammar, they'd think, "Oh, those are real-nice flowers."

Think of your target audience as well.

Pick something that sticks into your mind and catches other people's attention.

Name length & 'ease of speak' were certainly factors, together with a need to be clear about what I do without limiting what it sounds like I do!!! I've steered clear of anything like "Crafty Gifts" or anything because I DO SO MUCH more.

Thanks for your input - it's good to know I'm thinking along the right lines!

I like the last one but it would probably be better to shorten it to 'the eclectic emporium' and miss of the crafty designs bit Happy it sounds really good but it's a bit long.

Or you could go for something completely unrelated like 'the magic heather' =P

Oh, or 'heathers house'. Silly, and probably already in use but hey, I heard of a window fitting company called abstract 17 (serious) because it was the only name they could think of that wasn't copyrighted.

Hi Jenny, the length was why I was unsure about using it, also shortening it to The E E wasn't a go-er cos it already exists. As did a lot of very good suggestions that arose during brainstorming sessions!!
I did give a lot of thought to going with something unrelated/kooky but in the end decided that any benefit gained from "ooh, i wonder what they do?" reactions would be lost by "I dont know they do what i'm looking for, so i wont bother" - if that makes sense!

I wasn't sure about using my name...
but i like Heather's Handiwork

Think my web-designer decided for me! She sent me a logo/name idea for Crafty Lass Designs and I fell in love.....
So the deed is done! I'm now the proud owner of CraftyLassDesigns.com for the next two years Happy

I love this site but didn't there used to be a forum here? I can't find it at all - I must need coffee or something... I had the darnedest time trying to come up with a name for my site for <a href="http://www.patagoniagifts.com/">mens jewelry</a> creations too. I think CraftyLassDesigns is pretty good though.
