emo
what are differnt peoples view on the fad ''emo''
i hate it....your life is not over if you dont get the effing iPod!!
grrr
Well I dislike any stereotypes so this is just like all the others.
I don't have any problem with people who want to dress like that. I have the problem with the people who find it a problem.
If they enjoy it, what's the worry? And just because they wear black doesn't mean they cut themselves and cry over everything.
yeah, but i dont like the ones who just get allmad and say their life is over cuz of a small thing
I think Emo is just kind of like a style
Some people just like wearing black
Plus most of them have good hair
rofl
I think emo has more than one meaning-
#1 It's a type of music
#2 It's a type of fashion/style
#3 It's self harm
people just don't like describing their fashion sense as emo or their music as it's associated with self harm so it's only used as a negative word.
When someone calls you emo they're usually describing definition number three
Methatsall said "yeah, but i dont like the ones who just get allmad and say their life is over cuz of a small thing"
But absolutely anybody can say that regardless of what you wear or what music you listen to. I say it quite frequently and I'm not an emo.
Shivi I think you're right about the first two meanings, and I guess you're right about the third- I just don't think you should be if thta makes sense. I don't think people should automatically put self harming with being emo. Emo is a recent thing, self harm isn't. It's been around much longer than emo has and I don't see why it should be assumed that people who dress in this 'emo' way do self harm.
i cant get my toughts out today! gah!
okay...well technically selfharmers harm to make themselves feel safe or good aboutthem selves, etc.
emo means emotional, so i guess im emo.
emo doesnt have to mean self-harmer, it could just mean emotional
all music is emo - emotional! for years I denied the exsistance of emo.
What I can't stand is people jumping on a bandwagon to fit in, but it's not fair to stereotype but to me it feels the same as the current indie trend. No one can like one type of music only that would be boring and depressing.
What's worse is when these peolpe that think they are oh so individual judge you for not looking so individual.
I hate this label war.
I don't like the stereotype of emo. I'm not saying I hate every emo kid, I just don't like the style. That's my personal thing. I also don't like the music
I have a problem with people who self harm because it's cool or whatever. I used to have a real problem with it and the whole reason I got into it in the first place was because I was persuaded to (I was like, eleven).
I have no problem with emo or goth or whatever other style what I hate is the fact that people need to label everything! I dislike stereotypes because I have been on the receiving end of it a lot and it's not nice.
I hate the fact people say emo is only for people who self harm, that bugs the shit out of me. People who self harm have serious problems and usually don't want anyone to know. It's not something to make jokes about like the "I wish my grass was emo so it would cut itself" man that makes my blood boil!
I used to get called a goth when i liked indie (may have said this before) and now everyone loves indie!
It's like punks now a days how can you be punk when you conform to something, no one can actually not conform unless you live in a tree and stuff like eco warriors.
What is the difference between emo and goth? I always thought that people who were "emo" were goth posers. That is kinda how it seemed. People who are goth are "cool" people who are emo are "losers". So, are they the same or different? like emo would be people who listen to fall out boy and afi. and goth would be people who listen to stuff that is way darker than that. I can't think of anyone right now but I know lots of bands who are darker. Does this seem right or are they completly different?
emo is a more rock-indie aproach of goth
goth was more a term during the 90's
there practically the same
