High school stereotype?

I was kinda shocked going into hot topic the other day. There used to be tall, pierced and tattooed guys and girls who'd work there and shoot you dirty looks and death metal playing. I went in and there was all this Twilight stuff, a very bouncy, happy song playing, and three tiny, girly-guys who worked there, talking about their boyfriends.

I just had to crack up at how /different/ it was. Of course it has been almost twelve years sense I stepped foot in one @_@.

I know, right it changed so much :/
there are no cool stores here. All the awesome ones are in the UK. But I really don't wanna pay you know thirty dollars for shipping.

If you want goth shops, come to London! Camden is like the goth capital!
Well... it used to be. Now it's gone all indie because that's what people will buy Happy
it's still awesome, but not quite as alternative any more...
I'm always too scared to buy things from thrift stores because i worry that i will mess it up and it will be a waste of money! At least if someone gives me something randomly to "play with" as my dad says when he gives me old t-shirts, it's always free! Happy

Camden's got pretty rubbish now compared to how it used to be Happy. I was there the other day, and the amount of boring ordinary high street shops there increases every time I go. And they've knocked down the stables market and they're putting yet more high street shops there. And the amount of tacky London souvenirs in every shop is increasing too...

And if I see something I want to customise in a thrift store/charity shop I'll just buy it, and then if I muck it up I just consider it a donation to charity and cut the fabric up and put it in my scrap bag.

Well I still think visiting Camden would be cool and exponentially more edgy than any other place in Texas...

True that Camden's not nearly as good as it used to be, but the stables is still there! I go about once a month. They've knocked down the kind of side bit, everywhere from the food stalls onwards, but there's a lot of it left. I love London souvenirs, i find them hilarious! Like those hoodies with "London" written in a kind of graffiti scrawl as if London was a really edgy, happening place! I like your mindset about charity store stuff... except there's only one near my house and it's not got very good stuff Happy i never know where to get material from...

Yeah, that was the bit I meant. The last thing I heard was that they're building a new shopping centre there with shops like Topshop and Boots that you get everywhere else.

The town I live in has at least 6 charity shops, ranging from the really good to the really crap haha. It's getting to the point where on the high street there's almost more charity shops than other businesses, because so many shops are closing due to the recession, but that's another story entirely.

We didn't have time to go to Camden when we went to London and the boy wouldn't have liked Camden anyway I reckon.
I always found Manchester's Northern Quarter pretty shit. It feels like everyone is trying too hard to show everyone else how into rock they are, there were a few shops I'd find cool kitsch stuff in. When I first went there I was just amazed because I was like 13/14 and had never seen 'rockability' stuff readily availiable like that. Not many of that stuff, to me, is very flattering to wear and I find a lot of high street shops have all kinds of similar things going on now. I can never find anything that I REALLY REALLY love anymore and people who play up to these stereotypes are always really crap people anyway...

Courtney - WHICH UK STORES!? exactly and it's either mega cheap or mega expensive and the same crap quality! Doesn't Texas have Black Widow spiders? That's f*ckin edgy!

(all my posts are gonna be all over the place while I'm hurrying through everything cuz I'm on mikes computer)

Really? whenever I try to buy stuff its in US dollars haha (which is wonderful if you're earning pounds and spending dollars, cheaps)

I'm going to Australia at the end of 2010 and already freaking out about having to check places for spiders and snakes and what if they're like IN my pillows and stuff aaah :S

Australia sounds fun!!!! I'd love to see it, but I'm too much of a weenie.... too many things that could kill me I suppose. Tongue What are you going for? Though I doubt you'll have to check your pillows and things..... Tongue I'd be more afraid of the water than the land..... like great whites and those teeny jellyfish that can kill you.... but I suppose that's because I live right by the beach..... hmmmm.

Queenfairypants AHAHAHAHAHA
lmfao you're so funny!!!!!!
I've lived in Texas all my life, and never had a spider or anything like that in any of my pillows, and I've stayed in some pretty crappy hotels.

but don't you have to check under the toilet seat incase a spider has its nest there!!!!? lol

See maybe if I lived there I'd be ok but I'm not used to bugs and things all year round, I'm already getting a bit worried about summer coming again...I'm terrified of wasps. I make stupid whimpering noises even if just a tiny fly comes near my head! We've had BIG spiders in the house and one could friggin jump too but they aren't deadly if they do bite! I was chasing a moth around my room once - not like for fun, because I wanted to get it out of the room - and i pulled back the curtain and thought 'oh there it is' and this MONSTER of a spider appeared and instead of going out the open window it came further into the room! I slept downstairs! I'm not exaggerating it was huuuge!

I just have to think 'plenty of people live in these places and they don't die all the time cuz of these things'. Yeh in Australia we've decided that we DO NOT go in the water. I also have a fear of jellyfish because of Baywatch lol

hehe I'm funny? Happy I'm blushing!!!
