paper?

Where do you lovely crafters get your pretty patterned paper from? I just have plain coloured paper and card. I have found some thinner paper which is pretty, but it costs 40-70p for one sheet A4 size. I'd like to buy more, and with some variation other then roses and white flakes.
I like variety and I like colour!

Your best bet is to buy scrapbook paper. You should get it in any Art/craft shop.
It comes in various size packs/pads, the most common are 12", 8" & 6" square, although you also get A4. It works out MUCH cheaper per sheet although there is the initial outlay cost.
Look out for special offers in places like Hobbycraft, Dunelm Mills, Garden Centres with a craft section etc because quite often they have good quality brands really reduced. T K Maxx and other designer outlet places have also started keeping a small selection.

Packs are almost always colour &/or theme co-ordinated, and always have papers that go well together. Most ranges also have matching embellishments such as stickers ribbons buttons etc.

A good starter brand is anything under the DoCrafts label as, as far as 'proper' papercrafting supplies go, its relatively inexpensive. They used to be looked upon as being kinda low budget but since buying over a few wellrespected brands their quality has really gone up! Papermania, CraftTonic & Anita's are some of their most readily available. It's also them who own the papercrafting rights to forever friends and me to you bear products etc.

Other brands to look out for are K & Co., DCWV (DieCuts With A View) and making memories.

Using scrapping supplies also means that its all acid & lignin free, so anything you make that you'll want to last ( e.g. a new baby card - u know that in most cases thats gonna get kept forever) will keep its colour. Plus, its safe to use with photos.

U know when you look at old photoalbums and the pics have all discoloured? Thats the lignin leeching out of the paper. Plus those horrid self stick ones? the glue is full of all sorts...

Lol! U'd never have guessed I was a paper freak, would you??

TO BUY ONLINE: Docrafts have there own website www.docrafts.com also www.craftsuperstore.co.uk quite often have really good special offers on lots of stuff. They quite often do surprise boxes, which is end of line stuff etc - they do a £20 box worth say £80, so you can make some really good savings.

I just saw textured paper in pullingers for £10.95 for i think 20 sheets. I thought that was expensive

judging by your reaction im glad i didnt go for it. it seemed like it was recycled/homemade style paper, with other embellishments, but a bit OTT

i'm liking http://www.madaboutcards.com/section.php/1594/1 they have some great card and paper

at the min the craft pound shop on there has some cute 12x12 paper for 25p
they have decoupage sheets for £1

i also you gift wrap, tissue paper and wall paper to make cards or ATC's

Ethnic shops are good too.I had real success at a Nepalese shop yesterday and the new Japanese grocers.
Also be very keen to find the bargain bin I got 10sheets of water damaged paper and i was going to wet it anyway !

Don't forget to look at my "papercloth" how to you can make your own and it really easy to make unique paper from scraps.My secret ingredient for making these is Rolo wrappers foil.Chocolate and craft yum.

I have quite a selection of paper if you would like I could send you some, I also check out the discount book stores like The Works, and try The Range, they do packs of co-ordinating papers in various sizes for very little money. I didn't know that TK MAXX did craft stuff, I'll have to check it out.

yeah Siobhan, TK Maxx often have bargain bag/boxes of big brand stuff REALLY reduced. One recent example is £30-£35 worth of the Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen range for £6.99. Ours does a lot of making memories stuff too.
The Works are good for card blanks and craft books.

I love parchment paper with dog eared edges (careful if you are looking for burned edges as well, which I do sometimes. I find woodcut prints from clip art cd-roms and illustration books and I even pay for royalty free pictures. I guess that is beside the point, however. Try folding up torn out cheap and recentcomic book pages, very colorful. That is unless you are a collector and want to keep them forever.
