How did you get started?
Remnant Kings started out in 1946 in Glasgow's East End so we have a rich history in the fabric trade. Our goal was to set out by the three founding brothers to provide our customers with the highest quality fabric at the best prices. They liked nothing better than to see customers leaving the shop with a genuine bargain and a smile on their face, something which we continue to do today. Over the years we've grown from that first shop to five stores across the Central Scotland offering something for all fabric enthusiasts.
So whether you’re looking for plain, patterned, traditional or contemporary fabrics or curtains, ribbons, buttons, trims, motifs or wool, you can rest assured we’ll have exactly what you’re looking for in-store and online. Combining this vast product range with our experience and expertise, Remnant Kings is well placed to provide you with exactly what you need to create unique interiors, outfits, costumes and craft projects.
Where are you located?
We have five stores located across the central belt of Scotland;
Our flagship store is in Edinburgh and features all the products we stock with a vast range of interiors, dressmaking, craft fabrics and all the haberdashery items you could ever need.
We have two stores in Glasgow, a specialist dressmaking and craft fabrics store located in the heart of the city centre and a Fabric Superstore with a massive selection of interiors fabric and an ever-increasing dress fabric department.
Our two other stores are a bit smaller but have an old-fashioned haberdashery feel located in Hamilton & Falkirk.
Which products do you specialise in?
We pride ourselves on having the largest variety of different fabrics and consider ourselves to be a 'one-stop' fabric shop. Whether you're fashioning yourself a new outfit, doing up a room or quilting for a special occasion we've got everything you need to complete your projects.
Do you have a particular favorite product that you sell?
It's difficult to choose as we've got soo many lovely fabrics and tools! And each with a different use. But right now we're loving our new dress fabrics as there are lots of summer prints to get us inspired to sew this season. We've been growing our selection and it's exciting to see our customers wearing our fabrics in unique and creative ways. We've got lots more coming in the next few weeks as we like to keep our selection fresh so that every time you visit us there is something new to get excited about!
What's on the stereo?
We usually just pop on one of our local radio stations as we've such a variety of different customers that there's likely to be something for everyone.
Where else should we visit in your area?
There are lots of places in Glasgow & Edinburgh to inspire as both cities have a rich heritage and many stories to tell. In Glasgow we'd recommend visiting the West End for quirky boutiques and cafes as well as the Kelvingrove Art Galleries. Whilst in Edinburgh, you can't miss a visit to the Castle and the Royal Mile.
Do you host any workshops, classes or special events?
Each of stores have a different program of classes, workshops and craft nights. We like to offer something for everyone so they cover dressmaking, how make a roman blind/curtains, crafting projects (including our infamous wreaths and pom-pom animals) and seasonally we highlight different products we have which are particularly popular at Halloween & Christmas.
