CHUNKY RECIPE BOOK SWAP
I had my recipe for brunch yesterday
And forgot to take photos... Oh well, guess I'll just have to make it again..
I tried a new recipe and liked it so much I'm gonna use it for this swap. Took a photo- looks like mush! I think I might leave it out.
You could try glueing a wee garnish on the photo Libby ;P
...or draw it....
....or make a 3D crocheted version...
guess who's starting to have stupid dumb crazy-assed ideas in her fevered state!!?? Ya gotta love the 'flu !!
At last count there were 8 of us signed up and everyone is ok with international posting. Sign up closes tomorrow, so assuming there isn't a huge flurry of late signees, we'll all be sending to everyone.
You'll be creating multiple copies of your recipe page, keeping one for yourself and sending the rest on their way to other kitchens...
Please PM me your addresses and I'll collate a list for all, rather than everyone having to swap with each other individually
Any questions? Post or PM me!!
I reallyyyy want to do this but I think I'm going to wait until round 2.. >.<
Bindii--I'm so in!! I was worried that as a newbie I wasn't going to be able to participate (I've only participated in an ATC swap thus far), but I'm so happy to see that us newbies aren't excluded!

Welcome to the madhouse Abby
I'm a firm believer in inclusion! I understand the reasons people give for having a "no newbies" rule but I must admit, i find it hard to agree with the idea of it.
I also imagine there are times when someone new to swapping might actually find it easier to take part in a more regimented swap where there's a set list of items and dates etc rather than the open endedness of the Newbie/Vet one. And I know there are some people who have been put off the idea of swapping because a lot of the swaps they were interested in didn't allow Newbies. Of course, it is the hosts perogative to make whatever rules she/he wishes for their swap!! Anyway, I'll jump off my soapbox now ;P
I love the no newbie rule for the bigger swaps..... but that is because I have been flaked befor....and you don't want that!!
I think it was a year ago that a lot of people didn't commit to there swap here on cok. that why there also was a board on the topic of who didn't finisch her swaps. I'm really happy that belongs to the past!
but I agree that swaps like this one, the newbies should be able to join. so you go abby!!
hahaha well I already fall from my soapbox ;)
Like I said Jolanda, I totally get why people make the rule but I just don't personally see myself disqualifying people from taking part in any swap i'm hosting, just because they're new. Afterall, just because someone has swapped before doesnt automatically mean they won't flake. That said, I'd probably suggest not sending until you were both ready on a big swap, or even implement newbie sends first rule.
These quick easy ones are good to get new people into swapping as well as little fillers for the more experienced to fill in the space between the bigger swaps
I understand that you get why people follow that rule but I just wanted to say that we are doing so great now!
ans let be honest, with doing the newbie swap you get in a lot of other swaps. even when you haven't complited it yet.
I don't know if you ever have been flaked? but I don't even mind that I'm not getting anything, but the not hearing from what your partner thought of what you made for them gets to me.
I totally agree on that not only new people flake! but the change is bigger. but I love that you make it posible for newbies to join in your swap, don't get me wrong
xx
Yeah, it's good that most people seem to be willing to be a bit lax with their rules if a newbie really wants to take part
I agree, the worst part is definately not knowing if someone received/liked what you sent
Anyway, I wasn't preaching or being argumentative - it was more just thinking aloud (Abby, see what u've started!! )
You should all have received your send out list with 8 addresses, remember to make a 9th page to keep for yourself!! ;P
Please post pictures of what you receive and how u decide to bind/store them
Just wanted to make sure--is everyone okay with receiving a folded recipe? If we fold, we can fit them in standard envelopes to keep costs down, but the finished product will be creased. Is there anyone who'll be really offended if they get a creased recipe?
I thought the recipes were supposed to be on card like the chunky book swap? I just wanted to say I'll be putting mine into polypockets so they don't have to be wipe clean.
As long as its A5 and you take into account it's gonna be used in the kitchen, and probably bound in some kinda book, you can make it out of whatever you like.
A5 will fit UK large letter dimensions, which isn't all that much more expensive. I'm afraid I'm unsure as to whether there are similar postage choices elsewhere.
