CHUNKY RECIPE BOOK SWAP
This is my first time swapping so any comments, suggestions or improvements are welcome!!
Right here goes, the very straightforward, very easy, no hidden tricky bits - The Chunky Recipe Book Swap....
For The Chunky Recipe Book Swap, you need .... A RECIPE (told you it was easy!!)
ROUND 1: "My Favourite Easy Recipe"
Sign-Up starts now & ends 28th September
Send-to circles will be posted 30th September
Send-out target ;) 7th October
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE RULES: (I hate rules, but these are ok - they're just common sense really!)
1. Your recipe MUST be tried & tested (preferably by you). There's nothing worse than getting excited about making something, buying all the ingredients, following the recipe and have it not turn out.
2. You can present your recipe in anyway you like BUT it must be on an A5 page (148 mm x 210mm or 5.83 x 8.27") using a portrait layout. This is just to make it easier for everyone to collate & store their recipes.
Remember to leave 1cm or 1/2" free on the left to enable binding your pages without obscuring vital info!!
3. You can be as creative as you like within your A5 page, decorate it as you please, just remember it's gonna be stored in a book (or similar) and used in a kitchen!!! Think easyclean if possible!!
4.Oh, and dont forget to include ingredients, measurements, cooking temperature & time and a how-to bit
5. Feel free to put conversions in for weights/measurements/temps etc. However, the possibility of a conversions page was discussed, so I may well do that for everyone to pop in the front of their book.
6. Like a regular chunky book swap, you'll be sending to multiple people, I suggest sending the same recipe (for this one you kinda have to!) However, please keep in mind the likes & dislikes of those in your group...you may feel you want to send a different recipe to someone - that's ok!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, I intend to make this an ongoing swap, maybe once a month, depending on how well it is liked; so sometime soon you're also gonna want to make/find/repurpose something to store your recipes in (ring binder, box, folder, wallet...)
Each months recipes will be on a theme, but for this first one it's gonna be quite loose!!
We want your favourite easy recipe, it might be what you always make when you come home tired, a treasured childhood treat or something you quickly bake at the last minute for unexpected guests.
I figured kick-off with an easy one to get us started!

Oh, and Newbies are welcome!!!
########## EDITED ###################
Jolanda made a good point, it was something that occured to me too.
It would be nice to know the story behind the recipe, you could incorporate it on your page or pop in a little note.

########## EDITED 28.09.11 ###################
At last count there were 9 of us signed up and everyone is ok with international posting. Sign up closes tonight, so assuming there isn't a huge flurry of late signees, we'll all be sending to everyone.
You'll be creating multiple copies of your recipe page, keeping one for yourself and sending the rest on their way to other kitchens...
Please PM me your addresses and I'll collate a list for all, rather than everyone having to swap with each other individually
I have the list as :
Heather, Scotland,UK
Jolanda, Netherlands
Libby W. Worcester, UK
Nikki, UK
Mary, Italy
Tamara, London, UK
Cassie, Paris, TN USA
Abby W, Saint Louis, MO USA

Prefered styles/types of cooking/food:
Spicy, Saucy, Asian, Indian, Chinese, Spanish, Greek, Mexican, Italian.....
I enjoy cooking & baking generally, I wouldn't say there are any things I prefer more than others but I'm not keen on the oogy bits like filleting fish or butchering meat
Suggestions for upcoming rounds: I've got a ton of ideas ! I'll wait & see what everyone else fancies!!
NAME: Jolanda

Prefered styles/types of cooking/food:
I love trying out new things. so just bring it on! I would like to know the reason why you choose to send me the recipe. I love the stories around the food!
Suggestions for upcoming rounds:
I think it would be fun to do a "bakery special round" or something like that. and maybe something like "stand up for your country" were you send a recipe that is typicaly your countries food...... and maybe something like "sugar free factory" where you have a sweet snack without using sugar..... or "snack it bad time" this can be a recipe that it really bad for you, but gives such a great feeling! ....uhmm I think I can go on and on... but maybe it is better to wait what other are thinking of hihi
NAME: Kasia D.
LOCATION: London, UK
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING? Yes
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: None
Prefered styles/types of cooking/food: Baking! But I love all food. I particularly like having vegan/vegetarian days, so recipes that are v/ve are good. I also generally enjoy healthy living, so please no "comfort" or "indulgent" foods - only healthy recipes if posssible.
Suggestions for upcoming rounds: Baking, vegetarian, home-cooking, country themed food, the list goes on.
NAME: Libby W
LOCATION: Worcester, UK
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING? Go on then...
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: I can't have artifical colours. Don't stress too much about this it just means I can't have food colourings in cakes etc (sends me loopy).
Prefered styles/types of cooking/food: No fish, curries or overly spicey food for me. I'd love to try more Polish and Greek cooking. Although I'm not veggie I eat a lot of vegetarian recipes (and rarely prepare meat).
Suggestions for upcoming rounds:
Definately a baking one, using leafovers, one-pot meals ...
NAME: Nikki
LOCATION: UK
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING? Yes
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: Although I'm a fussy eater I'll cook for other people so none
Prefered styles/types of cooking/food: as I've said before, nothing that requires equipment other then an electric oven with gas hobs, microwave, grill (that does toast). If you are using equipment that I don't have can you suggest a way to do it without.
Once again I do not have: toaster, blender, pasta maker, deep fat fryer, wok, spices, bread maker, bbq, etc
If microwaving something can you say what Wattage please because I only have a 650W microwave. also shelf level in the oven and microwave setting
Suggestions for upcoming rounds: * 1 person meal (feeds 1)
* 2 persons meal (feeds 2) etc you get the gist of it
* sunday meal
* freezable stuff
* soup
* fancy
* dessert
* cake
* ice cream
* chocolate
* different meat like chicken, fish, cow, pig
ME ME ME ME ME!!!
NAME: Mary ;)
LOCATION: Italy
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: Yessss
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: none (luckily).
Prefered styles/types of cooking/food: I love vegetarian food and vegan sweets and I'm very fond of spices. The only thing I don't like are probably all-meaty dishes (like roasts).
Suggestions for upcoming rounds: nothing that hasn't already been said... but if I come up with anything I'll let you know ^___^
PS - Bindiibabe, I think you're missing the signup and sendout date for this first round ;)

Lol! I was about to answer that Mary, but Nikki beat me to it!!
So, what she said!
However, if you missed it, maybe I should edit the post and put it nearer the top??
maybe you could make it bold as some people manage to? I'm not sure how, I think using b in square brackets or <> maybe? *experiments*
edit: experimented. results: square brackets
put before the text and afterwards but remove the *
Wow!! 6 of us already!!!
I've taken some of your suggestions and edited the 1st post accordingly
I was thinking no more than 6 or so to a group, to keep postage costs reasonable. You should also be able to send them as a large letter rather than as a parcel.
I'll take into account peoples likes and dislikes when grouping but so far it looks like we are all up for trying some new ideas.
(Kasia, we'll try not to send you too many recipes involving 2 lbs of butter and twice as much sugar!!)
Nikki, thanks for the heads up on the bold type thingy ;P
The tech guy WILL be impressed when he gets home
when i sent out the chunky book pages for uk i just did normal stamps i think, obviously had to do it a bit more special for overseas
thats ok about the bold ;)
OOOPPSSS!
I think I got a bit too a-cited about this one!!
I think I might have already maybe perhaps made a first attempt at my recipe card
There really only was one option for my favourite childhood recipe!
Love this idea!
