Sheik Pillow, Help Please

I am in the process of making an extra large sheik-style body pillow for my boyfriend for christmas. I have all the fabric I will need and now it is time to buy the foam filling.

I am new to making pillows, especially ones this big. I have a basic pattern and have estimated that I will need about 50 cubic feet of filling. Right now I am thinking of using 15 denier fiberfill. Does anyone have experience with this particular stuffing and would you recommend against it? Also, the site I am going to buy it from is offering it by the 20 lb. bag, It seems like the best deal I have found so far, but I can't be sure as I do not know how that will convert to cubic feet in a firm pillow. Any thought's on how to calculate this?

Thanks a lot,
-Sunshine

Hi Sunshine. I made an oversized pillow to help with my CRPS. I used the small foam pieces that are like the ones used in what I call 'marshmallow' cusion sofas.

The pieces are abour 2cm square. I've used the fibre filling before but found it flatterned after a while.

Use a strong fabric for the liner so it doesn't feel lumpy. I would go for more filling than you think for a firm pillow. I got a full duvet's worth of stuffing into a bolster. Sorry I can't be more help on the quantity.
