Alphabet chart - help with words!
Hi everyone,
I'd appreciate any help/ideas you can give me here and I know you're a creative bunch! My goddaughter will be 2 next month and I'm making her an alphabet chart. I'm appliqueing pictures onto 6" fabric squares which I'll then sew together to make a patchwork wall hanging. The letters will be made separately and have velcro on the back, each square will have a velco strip to attach the letters to. I've done Apple and Bird so far and have plenty of ideas for most of the letters, but some I'm stumped on!
Please bear in mind I can't draw, I've got to cut out and sew the peaces of each picture so simplicity is the key, they are fairly small. Can you suggest anything for the following letters?
G (I had thought of giraffe but would prefer something that sounds like "g" as a child would say it - like gate or goose)
J
K
N
V
W
X
Y
Z
Any suggestions?
thanks
BG.
I've tried to think of things that could be fairly easy to represent and that a child maybe familiar with.
G - grapes, garden (possibly use beads for flowers - look at first inchies swap for ideas)
J - jester, jailer, jug, jam
K - kettle, koala,
N - nurse, nighttime (you could sew on a moon and then do cross stiches for stars)
V - vest, violin
W - window
X - xylophone, x-ray - this one is pretty tough
Y - yellow, yogurt, yacht
Z - zebra,
I also found this http://www.learningplanet.com/act/fl/aact/index.asp
g=gift j=jewel k=kite n=nose v=violet w=web,water x=x-men y=yam z=zoo zebra probably best there
Here is a site I found that might be useful to you!

It's designed for little kids so I think this would really help!
Also, for G I like Goose!
Hi guys,
My problem here is the pictures, you've all come up with some great words, but there's no way I can draw a goose or a zebra and cut them out of fabric about 4" square and make them look like what they actually are. I'm hand appliquing all this remember! She's only 2 so she wouldn't know some of these words like gift or x-men and most adults in britain don't know what a yam is (I'm not sure myself)...
Thanks anyway.
