Crafty (l) Indie?
yeh but sometimes saying you hate labels or saying you care for the environment is genuine so like even though I've said how I hate the scene theres people out there who are genuinely into the music, most of the time I don't think people are aware that it's a trend they're following.
I don't know many peolpe who craft I mean being on an art course every one had some craft/art skill obviously but the mentality is different when you're making whatever to pass a course not so much because you like the idea of something hand made and the fun in it and the satisfaction of going 'I made that' A friend from that course has joined the site recently and loves it, I think most people don't know whats out there and think they'd never be able to do it and there's different types of crafts like here all pretty young and modernising old ways and then there's the old ladys at hobbycraft getting things to make cards with.
K@ti, I think it's probably less to do with you genuinely liking the Kooks and more to do with the fact you haven't heard other music from the real 'indie' scene.
Seriously, they're terrible. I used to like terrible bands too, but then I heard better music with less media coverage.
I liked them a bit at first but of course they got over played and went from a band I didn't mind to a band I now hate and now I hear his voice and can't believe how bad it is, but it's up to the individuals taste to decide if they're good or bad so be nice to K@ti Roma!
Yeah well Roma, LCD Soundsystem ARE good.
Riot Grrl is the best kind of punk anyway, in my opinion. <3 Bikini Kill
Indie's okay, I'm just a little bored of it. Some bands I like more than others. I mean, I actually quite like The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs and stuff (although with Kaiser Chiefs it was one of those annoying situations that I loved them before they got big cause I did promo work for them, and then everyone liked them).
On a very slightly related note, I'm trying to work out if I can pull off black nail varnish. I always have dilemmas with things like this where half of me goes "Just wear it, screw what anyone thinks, if you think it looks good, do it!" and the other half goes "Nooooooo you'll look like a goth"
(You know what just in complete off topic reply to KK. I have been wearing black nail polish since I was 15 and I wore it in work a while back(I'm 27) No one has ever really commented on that before as they probably think I am a goth lol I'm not goth, I was kinda back in my early 20's now I am just me. Just wear it and feck what anyone says. When they want it to be, Chanel will bring black nail polish into fashion, which I then hate, because then of course it's ok for "normal" joe's to wear it. gah
"so be nice to K@ti Roma!"
unfortunately that is me being nice
i just feel really strongly about the indie scene and about how bands like The Kooks and Hard Fi have dragged it through the ground somewhat.
K@ti when I send you and Shivi your swap packages I'll send you a mix CD and you can shout at me for my music tastes!
I love how frank you are roma
Hard Fi I think I hate them the most out of any band that has become popular uuurgh and the singer cant blink! I think I also have an issue with the indie thing because of being called a goth when i was into indie and now everyone else is into indie!!! (i have said this before but it still bugs me haha!) I just don't like indie as much as the other stuff I like it sounds too clean and any one can rhyme sometimes it's just generic no matter what 'genre' it is. I like a bit of Riot Grrl too kk.
Black nail varnish is ace! I like really bold nail colours I used to have loads now I only have purple, red, a frosty pink and a frosty peach although the last two don't dry very well and just peel off!
nuh I see that you are being nice :p I think I'm kinda like that sometimes..I'm looking forward to the mix CD but I dont think I'll shout at you.
Sometime last year dark/black nail polish was really fashinable and everyone started wearing it but a month or so before that I got called emo by some guy in band because I was wearing black nail polish. Stuff like that makes me mad :
on a different not queenfairypants that is so annoying when bailpolish peels
I just painted red over the black cause I asked my friend what she thought and she yelled "GOFFICK!"
I normally wear red, purple or blue. But red is the best. I think I'm also gonna give up on my plans for long nails cause it's just NOT working, and keep them short for a while.
You know I just remembered that when I was 16 and wearing the black nailpolish, everyone called you a lesbian! haha that's so weird. I love having black toenails
Haha how bizarre! I fail to see the link.
I know, stupid kids. Thats what I love about Reykjavik, everyone dresses crazy so you don't stand out or get picked on so much
when i was 15/16 my friend and i had shaved heads ( buzzed not mr.clean style and i still had my bangs)
few people thought we were girlfriends and wanted to see us kiss in the hall at school.
umm... No. lol!
I listent o all sorts of music but don't usually play music while i craft .. sometimes the music will play in my head so can't really help it .
right now One Last Caress (Misfits) is playing in my head. Other times it could be Jewel or Bad Religion or Some country music hehe
I forgot to say that craft stuff to wear makes me feel more confident, at first i used to take my ipod out of the pouch while the pouch was still in my bag but now i dont care!
I LOVE wearing stuff I made! I love that moment when someone says "Oh wow, I love your top" and you go (in a very nonchalante way) "Yeah, it took me forever to finish..." and then you wait a moment and they say "Oh my god, you made that?!"
