Songs
What are some good non-american songs. Our music is crap
There are some great American Bands - Smashing Pumpkins, explosions in the sky, jefferson airplane, Love (early) dj shadow, eels, arcade fire (although they are canadian) and as discussed elsewhere neutral milk hotel.
If you are looking for some British bands I'd suggest: The cinematic orchestra (earlier stuff is cool jazz beats, last album ballads and textures), UNKLE (first album is hip-hop beats with indie singers, second album is chilled out paranoia, and third album is rockfrom a dance producer) Goldfrapp ( Felt Mountain there first album is a masterpiece), Howling bells (an aussie indie outfit) and Bat for lashes(bjork without being annoying), Arab strap (how to be Scottish dour and fucking cool at the same time)
I love Arcade Fire so much!!
Radiohead! any album but I would suggest The Bends, Ok Computer and the new one In rainbows
Muse, Origin of Symmetry, Black Holes and Revelations
Depends what kind of music you are after really.
Lady Sovereign is really good
heeey NIN? QOTSA? they're amazing and not british.
Manic Street Preachers, Howling Bells, Goldfrapp, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party, Muse yes muse! 'Map of the Problematique' by muse nearly makes me cry everytime i hear that song.
I'm sick of our music scene at the moment all the indie cindys!
Indie cindys, ey? well then you'll love Girls Alouds' new single. I love Girls Alouds' every single (it's perfect pop! What's not to like?) but this one's moaning about all the 'indie cindys' walking around (and rightly so too i say)
anyway it's got loads of indies up in arms about it. it's hilarious.
ya what!?
Girls Aloud have alright songs, Rhianna does too
DAFT PUNK
The Sounds. They are fun.
Chelsea....you're from my area....there are tons of great local bands around....Unfortunately most of them play at 21+ shows in the bars though. But you should check out Jon Wayne and the Pain....they have kind of a raggae feel, Charlie Parr is amazing....he sounds like he is stuck in time at about 1930. Maybe that doesn't make him sound exciting, but he's unbelievable. Down Lo, Wookie Foot, Mason Jennings, Pert Near Sandstone, Oddball Protocal.....I could go on and on with the list. I think most of them have myspace pages....but if you're interested I can dig up a webpage or two for you. Not that there isn't a million great bands from over the pond....but don't forget to check out what's going on locally. It's pretty amazing right now. Oh...and Chelsea (or anyone else wanting to visit Minnesota in July)....10,000 Lakes Festival is 4 days of great music, camping, and honestly the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at any music festival....and it's really close to home.
