libaries
do you go to your local libary?
If there was one nearby, I would so go! But the closest one is about a half hour away
When I first moved to Reykjavik, we lived in the library. It has free wifi and you can stay there for hours and no one bugs you! Its huge and has tables and study areas with views over the sea.
They had magazines too and lots of cool comics. I really liked it We haven't been since we got our own net at home
It's good to know it's there though
There is a really rubbish library near my house; the only decent one is in town, and in an annoying place but I do pop in every now and then when I need something. The college library is great for some things, but has nothing of others.
there's a library right down my street that i go to alot...they have free wifi too last time i went i found the best book ever The Essential Guide to Disney Villains it had each villan's profile and what they wore hehe my favorite was the Evil Queen from Snow White...
I go when I can but I haven't had as much time recently. I did my work experiance there
cool
We used to get dropped off at a library after school, I was in heaven everyday! <3
Now I'm working about building up my own library. Nothing huge. Only about 2000 books, but I get about 100 a month. @_@
i never really go! i go to the school one instead!
I love my local libraries, I've got 2 close by and they've both been renovated and they look lovevely and that have the most luxurious couches! It's just so peaceful in them, I need to make time to go more often.
At the bigger libarar of the two they have an amzing section for the little kids. There's these like couches on the wall and painted above them is a hot air balloon so it's looks like your're sitting in a hot air balloon while you read- it looks fab. And they have all these awesome beanbags in all different shapes and sizes!
Ack! i want to go there now!
My local library is really nice, it got completely renovated a couple of years ago so it's all nice and spacious and colourful now. It's a lot easier to find stuff because the shelves are laid out in a better way. And there are nice comfy chairs, which is always important haha. They'e got free internet access too, so I used to escape there a lot of the time when my brother was at home so I couldn't go out much.
My college library however (where I'm sitting right now, so I'll have to be careful the librarians aren't watching me haha) is rubbish. There's not enough tables and chairs, not enough computers and the librarians are constantly moody and shouting at people. Like yesterday, I had a free period so I came to the library with my friend to do a bit of work. We were sitting at a desk, and then another friend came over to join us. A librarian came over and told us that only 2 people were allowed to sit at the table we were at, so we had to move to a bigger one. There were no bigger tables so we had to pull another one over to join with it. As soon as one of my friends got up to go and find a computer, another librarian pounced on us and was like "This is two SEPARATE tables, you can't sit here" and she started dragging the table that I was sitting at away from me! And there are stroppy notices all over the walls saying things like "NO MOBILE PHONES! Don't make us tell you again!" and "You are allowed to talk but PLEASE KEEP YOUR VOICES DOWN! We are as sick of telling you to be quiet as you are of hearing it".
sometimes i go, but not lately. a lot of my friends hang out there cause theres nothin else to do in this small town. we used to have a coffee shop they went to to get online but now they go to the library. i usually can never find what im looking for in the library its usually already checked out but i like to buy books anyway. cause they look good on my bookshelf.
i LOVE the library! The one on my island is really crappy, but I try to go to the nearest one at least once a week (it's an hour away) - I was just there yesterday and I got.... lemme see.... a good 40+ books! My boyfriend was about to kill me! He hates going in there with me because he knows I'll take ages and he has mega ADD. Tee Hee.
My mother and I actually got in trouble once for checking out too many books, but that was in a different county. Thankfully the one we use now has no limit! HUZZAH!!!!
I have also learned that it is a very good idea (for me anyway) to always take a reusable tote bag thing when I know I'm going - otherwise I can't see over the stacks of books I'm attempting to carry to my car! ^.^ My favorites are the ones from Earthfare that fold up into teeny little keychain size - they're amazing!
