Help with the contests on this site?

So I entered a tutorial in the Jump From Paper contest, and I've been really excited ever since. I really hope I win, but I had a few questions. First, are the winners picked by the best project or by a drawing? Also, how are the winners of the contests announced? This particular contest ended February 10th, and I've been checking it every day to see if it will say something on the page but it hasn't. I realize that it will take them a while to decide on a winner, but I was getting really anxious so I looked at past contests and all the way back to 2008 the contests still says "winners will be announced soon".
I don't mean to be a pain in the butt, but I am really excited and I can't stand it Tongue

So to wrap it all up, my questions are:
How are the contest winners decided?
How are the winners announced?
If the winner gets a message sent to them, are there also messages for the people who didn't win, saying that they didn't win so that they don't keep waiting?

People who don't win aren't notified. Usually it takes 4-5 days, sometimes even a little longer for a winner to be picked. The winners are all announced on the original post for the contest.

Nope, but I did just win a book giveaway. I was sent an email with a link to enter my shipping info so the book could be mailed to me; I imagine the same method is used for when you win a crafting contest.

You just need to check for winners a little lower on the page, it will say "and the winners are" or something like that with bold letters. When you win, you can tell them how happy you are and then just type your adress. Well, what Monika just said. Happy

I won a couple contests a couple months ago and Cat notified me by sending me a message that also showed up in my email. I think whomever is sponsoring the giveaway chooses the winner because Cat has entered in a few of the contests as well.

i entered the christmas one... and i waited ages... but i never scrolled down the contest page where it says 'winners announced soon' lol lo and behold... there they all were lol. I did win a book the other week tho. got it on monday ^_^
