Trying to dress nicer...

I don't think the GAP exists around here. I know we have NY&C, JCP, Sears, and just a few other stores... JCP in some cities and Peeble's in others.

@ Monika: Definitely post how your get on with converting your cords to skinnys (if you decide to do it). I've thought about doing this before as I find it so hard to find slim leg trousers that fit around the waist and bum and don't give that unflattering 'crotch pocket' look.

I posted one Happy As someone raised by a seamstress, I can't stress enough the importance of reducing from the inseam. It might make the shape look weird on a hanger, but the fit and seams will be better that way.

My four mods last night really took care of my want to go shopping. lol

Your modifications look great! Recycling is a wonderful thing and is kind on the pocket. When I have some time I need to do a wardrobe gutting session. I have loads of things that need mended (holes sewn up and buttons sewn on), not to mention stuff that could be altered. You haven't got any advice/ tutorials on how to alter necklines do you? I find loads of stuff in the shops is really high at the moment and I prefer a more flattering scoop or v-neck.

I always just cut the shape I want for the neckline, fold it over, and sew it with a straight or zigzag stich depending on the stretchiness of the fabric.

I have some old shirts with neat patterns that I want to modify but don't know how quite yet. lol
