The UN is trying to take away religious freedom. x.x
I totally get what you mean, and it's unfortunate that we have to cover ourselves by saying we aren't racist, merely when we wish to observe out loud the truth--that is, that westerners are now considered as second-class citizens in their own countries. It IS the truth--anyone who hasn't been brainwashed and objectively looks at current events can see this.
Deffo agree...
This has more to do with the bigwigs of the news media, in their big corporate towers, making scare news stories (to hype up and thus make more money for themselves) than it does with anything else.
They control our speech (and some people's thoughts) by pushing our buttons with cleverly worded biased reports- the same corporation will publish an 'outraged' 'true' story about freedom of speech being eroded in one paper whilst slamming religion in another aimed at a different target audience.
For the record, I am Christian. But I'm deeply suspicious of reported news using key words 'rights', 'freedom of speech' or religion- because they are usually trying to create a panic and in a roundabout way make sure we can all speak freely but the only people with any airspace/who won't get ignored are them and their advertising interests.
Very, very glad that corrupt as it is, the BBC has a duty to report news outside a profit-related arena (although of course they have to please the taxpayer and the government too).
well said Squizita!
My thoughts are not controlled, thanks. I have researched the material. Additionally, it's amazing how biased your supposedly unbiased news source, BBC, actually is. To hear them talk, antisemitism does not exist, and on the contrary, the tiny state of Israel is (again, supposedly, and according to the BBC) the cause of all the world's strife.
Now, tell me. How is a country the size of New Jersey, which only wants to be recognized as having the same rights as any other nation, somehow the source of all the world's problems?
Listen in sometime, OBJECTIVELY. You may find out that there is more mind-controlling being done by BBC than you previously recognized.
Having re-read your post, I have to say that I do agree with the essentials of what you have to say. I still, however, stand by my first response regarding the BBC. I apologize in advance if it seems like I am implying that you are a sheep to the BBC, because I have no way of knowing this one way or the other. It still stands to reason, though, that it was inappropriate for you to originally make that presumption about me--if, indeed, this was the case, as it is hard to tell if you were making a generalized statement about the population of the world, or slamming me directly.
If you WERE slamming me directly... well, consider my above pre-apology as nonexistent.
I didn't see her post as slamming you at all Rachie, sounded more like she was slamming the media for fear mongering. Maybe I missed something?
@Lolly....Well said about those who don't respect our culture. I agree totally with your statement......
'if they don't like how things are in England then they shouldn't stay...'
I went to a Rememberance Service in my home town last weekend. There were religious leaders from the Christian, Sikh, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu faiths. All had come together to remember those lost in past and present wars and to comfort those of us who are still being affected.
There were no distintions made between the races and cultures. Although the majority of the service was Anglican it was the people together that was the important thing.
No matter how long ago someone lost a loved one in conflict the wounds are still raw.....let us not forget they gave their today for us to have our tomorrows....
I openly wept for my dad and lost friends....so when idiots burn a poppy it's not just a piece of paper....it's an insult to a country that is accepting of their culture and given them freedom and choices.....I say those choices should be removed for the emotional attack on our brave countrymen and women and the brave Indians, Gurkers and other nationalities that have fought along side us in past conflicts.
I make no apologies for saying this.
I wear a white poppy for peace and have done for many years.
Article 2 of the UN Children's Right Charter States.
"States Parties shall respect and ensure the rights set forth in the present Convention to each child within their jurisdiction without discrimination of any kind, irrespective of the child's or his or her parent's or legal guardian's race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status."
This was ratified in 1948 and I hope continues for be the case for the next future.
I don't think this would change anything to be honest.
Your faith is personal, and it sounds like they're trying to stop people from fighting over who's God is the only God.
Link please.
Shiela I'm right behind you on this. What really upset me was that not long ago they tried to deport the Gurkers... and that really appalled me!!
Again... not being racist BUT there are some people of different origins that are SO unappreciative of what we, as a country, have given them - freedom, welfare etc (as if this country wasn't struggling enough as it is!!). But the Gurkers who FOUGHT with us and risked their lives alongside our troops are being denied a home here...
... on what planet does that make sense?! We owe them sooo much, yet they are so ready to chuck them out of the country, but not those who sponge off of us, who bomb us, who burn our poppies?? It really makes me sick!!
Sheila--I am pretty sure that you and I agree on almost every issue 100%. :-D Also, that memorial service must have been wonderful. I wish I could see something like that.
Kitty--Yes, I probably overreacted, but then, I am also used to being passive-aggressively (or just plain old aggressively) slammed by now, whenever I talk about politics. It's one of the pains of being a conservative American these days.
Quinn--I will see if I can find the link today. I usually don't save the links and so on, because I don't like going back to less-than-positive material in order to re-read.
Lolly--Again, I'm sure that you and I pretty much have the same view on almost everything. LOL!
@Rachie I wasn't being judgemental or near-sighted, its the truth. You clearly have never been to South Africa. Here, people who aren't christians get treated as if they have some sick disease. That's what it's like here. And not just in the area I'm in, it's like that in almost the entire country.
Woah! Rachie I was NOT having a dig at you in any way!! I'm rather shocked by the fact that you took it that personally. I was talking about the story being publicised using scaremongering words, not that anyone reading it would be brainwashed.
You'll also notice that I did say the BBC is corrupt, I'm well aware that they have their masters just as all media organisations do.
I have, however, never ever seen them deny anti-semetism exists and indeed they've made history (and news) programmes investigating it and slamming those who are.
