Israel's store schizophrenia is killing me. x.x

So.... you know me. I'm originally from the land of buy-it-24/7-at-Walmart. Well, Israel is not the same way, and I am absolutely losing my mind.

The only place I can buy any craft supplies is the little store down the street (OMG, I'm so mad I can't even spell properly. o.O). Well, that would be fine, EXCEPT Israel has this STUPID policy: stores are open Sunday-Thursday, but on Tuesday, everyone closes AT NOON. Additionally, every work day there is a two-hour siesta, starting at 2 pm, of all random times. Stores can open or close at any time around this time period, which means that at any given time between noon and 5 pm, a store might or might not be open. Fridays, it's also anyone's guess what is open and what is not, though on that day, everything is closed by 3 pm. Things don't open up again until Saturday night for the malls and chain stores, and Sunday morning for everywhere else.

Also, I get to walk to town, and getting there and back in and of itself is at least a half an hour out of my day, each time.

Today I went to the craft store because I NEED something to finish an item I'm selling. I already told my customer I will have it for them the day after tomorrow, but I needed one last thing as a finishing touch. Well.... the craft store decided to not be open at ALL today, apparently--and I went into town on foot exclusively for this store TWICE TODAY!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion, because of this, and other shoddy practices in this country, Israelis need to get their heads out of their rear ends, grow "some," and LEARN TO BE PROFESSIONAL!!!!!

(I'm a stickler for professionalism.... WHYYYY did I have to end up in THIS universe-forsaken, jersey-sized dump!?!!?)

I need a couple of margaritas. ~-.-~

Because you really love Schlomi darling. Although I do agree. My nearest craft store is two half hour buses away so I feel your pain x

Argh honey that really sucks, it makes me grateful for, not only a local craft store (10 min walk) but another one in the town (30 min bus ride) and such availability of the shops and stuff. As much as I moan about it here in England, there are things I'm grateful for. I never realised how bad it could be Happy poor you honey xxxx <3

OMG, you girls are so sweet. :-P

The thing is, I have *access*, technically, to quite a bit of things--the shop is just hardly ever open!!!!!! Additionally, the things I need are things I need for tomorrow and Halloween.... unfortunately..... Happy

(Although.... what kind of Christmas things can you get at that dollar store...???? ;) also, I AM looking for, specifically, Sculpey--if I can't find it here, I might ask you to be my supplier, lol. How much does a block of that normally run?? )

Bryony, you are too right--and you know what?? Last night he took me to Mike's Place, an American bar, for Taco Tuesday, which is my favorite--you get two tacos, a basket of nachos, and a margarita for only 35 shekels!!! ($8, which is SUPER cheap here; normally just the margarita costs more than that. :-P ) So, in the end, I did get my margarita--lol!!

Thanks ladies. Happy

Hopefully they'll be open today, or I'll be here, posting a louder and more upset repeat of my first post, lol. >.<

Ahhh I feel your pain Rachie!

The craft store in my city is open from 9 to 2 and only on working days,so never on Saturday or Sunday. And they are sooo pricey that I can hardly buy anything. And there are no other stores where I could find craft stuff.

There is a super awesome and very cheap craft store 4 hours drive from my town,(at the Hungarian border) but I only get to go there maybe once a year! Happy

Also,I am running out of felt!!! and in our craft shop one sheet of felt costs 3 dollars!!! that is an insanely high price for only one sheet of felt!So it looks like I will have to get used to not working with felt... Happy((

My god darl.
Seriously i constantly moan about how they never have anthing i need in the discount stores and craft sections and you have to go to one shop. I feel well spoilt and fussy. I think ill go back on that now haha. I'm rather greatful now. If anything i'm spoilt for choice even if they are all from crappy pound stores Tongue

i agree though we should send some goods out. Cheap and cheerful but guaranteed to come in handy

kellbear: I sat for about a minute going "Pound store? What the hell is a pound store? What does one buy there?" until I realized that it's just like a dollar store ... DERP

I'm pretty limited too. Everything I knit comes from yarn at Wal-Mart, which is really scratchy sometimes Happy

Aww, you all are sweet. :-P It's been a little difficult--I asked them today if they had any houndstooth fabric, and they pointed at the fabric transfers.

*headdesk*

I chalked it up to a language barrier, but I mean, REALLY?!!
