whats with the snarky comments?
So now my next question is: Is there any way to have these comments deleted? I dont want everyone who goes to look at my project being bombarded with the rudeness.
You'll have to get hold of Crafterella and ask her to delete it. State what project and which comment (who posted it, what date etc.) it was on and they MIGHT get rid of it for you.
However, I saw the comment you're talking about and I kind of see it as a bit of criticism. It's not really rude... Or frowned upon such as swear words or racism etc.
I actually agree with May O. on this one. The poster isn't saying that she's inadvertantly made the same item as another user, she's saying it's a copy of someone else's project. The poster is right in theory too though - it is the same concept.
In this case, I would PM the person and politely point it out. Having the comment sitting on the project makes it look like May O. is deliberately plagurising someone else when she clearly didn't intend to.
@ RubyW. So as long as I dont curse at you or be racist then its ok to comment whatever i want on your projects?! Maybe you might like to think how it would make you feel if someone accused you of stealing. and that is exactly what she did "this is a copy of another project" Manners extend way beyond not curseing and being racist. I believe you should be considerate of other peoples feelings. Plus it isnt even HER project that i allegedly copied. I could maybe see it to come around to her way of thinking if it was ANY of her business at all. If this is the way the other crafters are going to be on here they need to add a feature where comments on projects must be approved by the poster. And if this chick really felt the need to say such a thing she should have p.m.ed me not left the snarky comment. I mean really grow the eff up!!
Hey, I understand where you're coming from! I never said I agree or disagree with what she said, I was just saying it wasn't racist etc. so wouldn't know if Crafterella would delete the comment (didn't state that in previous post, sorry). It is criticism as well though and as long as you know you didn't copy the project then you shouldn't really be bothered with other peoples comments. I wouldn't like it if someone wrote that on one of my projects you're right, no-one would, but I personally wouldn't make a problem out of it.
I wasn't/not trying to get at you, was just giving my opinion, that is generally what these rants sections are for
This thread has got me a little worried actually. I just got a camera and am about to start uploading projects. I've made a couple of purses. I made them out of nice fabric I found and made them in the only logical I way I could think of. So... There are plenty of purses on here, many I'm sure will be made in the same way, should I post these as versions? A lot of the pieces I make are technically generic but the materials used and the way they are put together are mine
Gigi, unless you followed one of the how to's to make your purses, I don't see why you would have to post them as a version.. even if you did, im sure its not the exact same. We love to see where the inspiration comes from but it's not required. As long as you don't take credit for someone elses pattern, photos..etc or copy and paste someone elses text as your own, I think you should be free to post whatever the heck you want without being worried. Can't wait to see them!
Yeah Kitty I agree... If you didn't use a how to or instructions from someone else and did it off your own back it shouldn't be a version.
i do agre but some ones recently put a progect up and favorited mine witch its bacicly the same andthe color and everthing the only thing different is she also made a necklace she even used nail vairnish like me . im very flaterd but i would of preferd here to make a versi0on and btw the poster was actually being rude.
I am sorry you didn't get credited Loopy.
On a side note: Some users on the site might not be aware of versions or how it works... I'm not trying to make excuses for anyone being bad but perhaps some people have used a projects how-to and are not aware they can add their version attributed to the original.
It took me about a month to 'get' this site and the features.
thanks btw the waydidnt you get resin in your eyre ? ouch hope it fells better
OK, I don't think I made myself too clear up there so I apologise to everyone who I might have offended!
As for versions, if you didn't see it and say 'hey I want to make that too' then don't post it as a version, a creation would be fine!
I think threads like these tend to lose their meanings and go off topic a little but they should NEVER stop you from posting your work and creations! People visiting projects should just look and move on, say nothing about it being similar or whatever and then nobody would be hurt in the long run (obviously leave nice comments but if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all that's what I'm trying to get at).
I'll just leave now, I'm terrible at explaining myself and probably offended someone else now!! *puts down the spade and climbs out the hole*
I'm going to go down in history 'as the girl who got resin in her eye!' Haha Yes loopy I did get resin in my eye!
I get where you're coming from Ruby... "if you didn't see it and say 'hey I want to make that too' then don't post it as a version" ..that's a pretty good guide.
@Kitty - thanks! I really appreciate that
Your welcome Gigi
And yes Minnie, your eye-resin story will forever haunt me How is your eye btw?
