Chickens are people too!
Yeah, I've been trying to be completely vegetarian this year and I feel so much better for it. I actually prefer the taste of quorn to meat, chicken tastes too sickly now and mince isn't as nice as quorn mince. So wish me luck and I'll let you know how I do.
I'm an almost vegetarian, i like my meat but i cant stand meat from the i never buy it from the stores. I live in a small farming town, and everyone i know raises some kind of meat, so when we buy our meat we buy if form one of our farmer friends, one who is Jewish and treats the animal right while it's alive and than kills it quickly and as painless as possible, and never kills something under the age of a 1 year. And when i buy meat from the store i always buy Kosher meats (jewish meats) because buy Jewish law, no animal can be miss treat for the sake of a better profit and they cant eat there own kind.
For about 6 months last year i went vegetarian and at first it was really easy but then I missed certain foods-mostly chicken and decided to stop. Every now and then I do have a vegetarian meal though- I want to eat more vegetarian food as it's much healthier plus it's good for stopping the whole global warming thing.
P.S. We always buy free range eggs
I feel a lot healthier and more energized.
I really miss jelly sweets, I bought some yesterday with halal gelatine but then realised and people said how its still got animal in it...I got confused! I couldn't possibly eat any meat etc now. I find that quorn 'chicken' is nicer than real chicken.
I worked in a chicken restaurant when I was 16. I could smell chicken in my hair, my skin, etc... To this day, I will not eat chicken!
In town here, there is a chicken processing plant. They hang the chickens by their feet onto an overhead conveyor and then they get shocked to death! It's gross. I don't see how people work there. My parents raised chickens and I loved it! I made pets out of all the chickens ( they all had names). I helped raise a brood of guineas! ( I think that is the way you spell it) We got the eggs and put them in the incubator and they were so cute! they looked like little business men with striped suits on!
No matter how much people yell about treating chickens better, they won't listen- that's telling them to take the chicken off their plate!
my mum forgot that I can't eat gelatine sweets and bought me some! those jelly babies should have a proper home! my stomach! ooh well.
I wish we had more pets
Whilst the chickens are on the conveyor thing their throats are slit then they get dunked in to boiling water, surely that takes more time, money and energy then just simply chopping their heads off! I think there's a different attitude to the treatment of animals in America from what I gather.
hm.....i could never go veggie i like steak 2 much.....but im trying to go veggie lol
oh and go to www.meetyourmeat.com
its got a ton of stuff about this
yeh the thing is its hard to believe what you read especially if its a site trying to convince you not to do something but a lot of these things are true
yeah, thats what's so sad
the stupidest bit I read once on one of those sites was 'If you don't eat meat less animals die' which is ridiculous because when cattle, pigs, or chickens go to slaughter they send them all because just because some people don't eat meat doesn't mean the farmers won't make money from all the animals they arent gonna go 'OOh wait someones just turned vegetarian, keep two back.'. They give farmers a hard time saying that the farmers are money grabbing evil! Farmers work so hard and have to work a certain way because of the industry and just to make money and as above they make 3p per chicken!
Even before I became vegetation my family always bought free range eggs. Chicken was the first meat I stopped eating not only because some of the most horrible treated animals but because to have a meal of say chicken wings the average person eats how many like 8-10 I don't know lol and anyway so thats 4-5 chickens for one meal. Do you see my point, because they're so small just by not eating chicken you save a lot more animals then started with beef etc.
I get you, I actually couldn't eat a chicken now it makes me pull a face! My mum was cooking lamb yesterday the smell was making me feel ill.
I'm getting sick of people making a joke out of it all they might only be joking but obviously it's important to me so they shouldn't just shit all over it!! There's worse things going on in the world, I'm not stupid, I feel like taking this step means I should only buy fair trade stuff too but it's hard! Also I'm just as healthy as someone who eats meat, a friend was like 'you're going to die in 5 years then!' but I eat less junk food then I used to.
Sorry but I had to rant, again
nuh rants are fine
