The dog needs an operation!
She has a tumour they don't know if it's benign or what yet and it's on the outside of her body, so it's not as bad as it sounds but I'm going to be very fragile for a week, until she has the operation and we find out what it is. The money is an issue too, it's times like these that I really wish I had a job so I could pay towards it, but we can manage and we'd rather have our doggy still!
Needed to get it out, thanks for listening.
Well, I hope all goes alright. It should, sounds like you have a good vet that is all for the best of your dog. The last dog we had, before Star, died, because he got really sick and the vet refused to try to find out what was wrong with him. My mom kept taking him to the vet, the first time the vet said he was just getting old, but we knew that wasn't it, he wouldn't eat or drink or anything. Then they said they'd do a test. He kept getting worse, so my Mom took him to a different vet, which was really nice, that vet had asked the prior vet to send all the tests and everything...the test they claimed they would do two months ago, THEY NEVER DID! The bad thing is, it was too late, he couldn't walk or anything, his kidneys were failing and the vet knew that, she told mom that there were two options either he be put on machines and go through TONS of tests to find out how to make him better, or he be put down. He was already in so much pain, we just had him put down, my Mom waited weeks to tell me, 'cuz I was at school. I bawled.
Sorry for the sad story, but point is....at least you have a good vet! I'm sure everything will be alright!
Well if the tumour's on the outside then I'm guessing she has a good chance of recovering, right? We'll all look after you, I'm sorry this has happened, you'll have to give her lots of treats when she gets back!
Yeh my mum has already been giving her chicken hahah
We're lucky because we've never had a bad vet. The last time she had an operation the vet quoted the price for us because she could tell we were a bit worried about the money. That was at the beginning of the year and they had to do a blood test before the operation because she's 11 and the results came back fine, but now I'm worried that something will show up in the tests that wasnt there before and then they wont be able to operate and who knows what might happen! I'm keep quite calm actually, because we don't know if it's that bad yet. It's a bit surreal as well!
Sorry about the bad vet and your dog KT! If it is bad, she'll probably get some medication to stop the pain and then well..but if it comes to it then I know that being put to sleep is better then suffering.
Well, it's alright...I got over it. I cried a lot...so I know what you are feeling...we went through about 3 months of not knowing what was wrong with him...and for me, being away from him and at school was hard. I was worried constantly. So, I'm here for support if you need it. I hope all goes well.
I am here for you, crossing fingers. I hope everything will be ok
Yea, My dog had to have an operation on her hind legs, but I don't think thats as big as having a tumour!
Thats really sad, but I'm sure She'll get through it! From what I've seen of vets, most of them, because vets because they really love animals and they'll do anything they can do save them, and I hope you will get one of those vets as well
Well its three years after surgery for my puppy, she is 13 and perfectly fine, still acts like a puppy jumping around doing the circle dance
She's had other operations and been fine. I've been a bit anxious when she's had ones at this age because anesthetic can be dangerous with older dogs. Last time it was two lumps and 5 teeth removed, shes only got her big fang like teeth (I should learn the names!) and then the ones in between are like tooth, gap, tooth, gap etc lol! They were awful but we switched her food to dry food and now they're all white.
I found this lump on her chest which wasn't like her other ones, so I was really worried when she went to the vets, she went for a booster but the vet looked at the lump but a sample was taken from one of her other lumps near it which I wasn't worried about because she's had similar ones that were nothing serious but removed because they were bleeding. The other lumps are just moles, and the one on her chest is a fatty build up. But again it's on the outside of her body and it could be benign. The vet phoned a while after my mum and the dog got back, which was nice of her.
I feel really bad because there's other threads on this board that are a lot more serious. It was really weird reading your posts saying you are there for support and stuff! Thank you though
hey, your dog is a member of your family, it is serious. You love your dog and you are worried. Just remember, you got us

I agree with Michelle, your dog is a member of your family, so it is important.
Thanks guys...I feel alright today. I kind of wish they hadn't said tumour but it's best we're informed and prepared. It played on my mind, the word tumour, you automatically think it's bad. I think she'll be alright
thats right, think postive!
Good luck for your dog and I'll be thinking of you all Big hugs xx
operation time tomorrow but I've been giving her lots of biscuits because she can't have anything to eat after 8pm
