my new dell inspiron 1525

I just got this laptop (Eeeh! First computer etc etc.) Everything about it is beautiful, I'm just a bit perplexed by one thing. I doubt anyone on here can help me but I thought I'd talk about it anyway.

To charge it I've got to plug something into an 'AC Adaptor'. only it doesn't really plug together as satisfyingly as I'd hope... Like when you stick a USB cable into a port it goes full on in, and you need to apply some force to get it out? (A good amount of force) that's what I'd hope for. But with this it fits in a bit precariously... I have to balance it beautifully on a surface to ensure they stay together and charge. It does charge! It's just so awkward, I'm sure that can't have been the intention. I know the whole point of a laptop is so you can take it around with no wires and things, but for example, if i'm using it on a train- and I probably will- I'll want to plug it into the power socket, but I doubt the AC adaptor and thing will stay together.

What should I do? Should I phone the company or would I look stupid? I don't know what to do!

I think you should definitely call them. They should replace it no problem for you.
I have a laptop and after a year or so the connector to the laptop part started going off and they just replaced it straight away. As long as you have all your receipts you should be fine.

Definitely phone for a replacement, I had an issue with my ac adaptor, and it ended up frying my motherboard Happy

yeah, but you have to pay extra for the colours. i just went black and put some kitty stickers on. giggle!

Ok! fresh off the press- i sorted it. kinda. see, i rang up dell and it turned out that it is designed like that... and you have to reallly push it in to the point where you think it'll break. they do it so it definitely can't come loose, because if it does, it sparks. it sounded like lots of people had been phoning with the problem, i said "i've got a problem with my ac adaptor" they said "push it in harder." giggle!
