I like things that come with thought and love over store bought things. Sure, nice gadgets and clothes are cool...but you can buy that yourself.

Get her, or make her something that she couldn't get herself, or wouldn't think of doing for herself.

Most girls are sappy about emotions. So, a letter telling her how awesome she is and such would be nice. You could make her a gift basket of all the things that remind you of her:

Make a reusable shopping bag and stencil a green scarf on it. Fill it with things that invoke good memories. Put some food in it! (I love getting food for Christmas, lol) Make her a t-shirt with a phrase that just you two know. (Like, an inside joke?)

If she likes stuff like that, you'd be a winner! If she's more into clothes and jewelry, get her a gift card so she can buy it herself, but package it in something you've made that she can use. Like the makeup roll, or the shopping bag, or in the pocket of a t-shirt...etc.

Good luck!

cheers for the links michelle, had no idea there was so much shopaholic crap i could get her!

a letter tellin her how great she is Des? you know i'm talkin bout my sister? that'd be more than a little weird...

No t-shirts, no one ever likes 'em, they don't wear 'em, it's just a waste of time and effort and they always come out shit anyway.

appreciate the input though Happy

If she likes wearing headbands you could make this super simple but so classy headband! I know I would LOVE if my bro made me this! You could even use the flower technique on bags ect..

Or what about a homemade spa basket? There are a ton of awesome bath salt ideas on here. You could pick up a basket, loofas, scrubbers, pumice stone, ect. at the dollar tree for cheap. Throw in a pair of cozy socks and maybe a handmade eye mask and she will love it.

It's not handmade but makes an awesome gift...Magazine
subscription! It's the gift that keeps on giving! Plus it's awesome to get mail that isn't bills Happy

Also what about making her some new earrings? These ones are easy and look really awesome!

Jonesy, you HAVE to get her those fluffy socks that felecity posted. They are awesome and I give them to my sisters in law every year. I'm not sure if you have an old navy or a bath and body works out there but that's where you can find them.

Also, if she likes jewelry you can make her something like this..

Ditto on what Kira said about the socks. I do not believe there is a person who has worn and NOT liked them. Happy Serious brownie points!

I'd want the books by Madeline Wickman (which is Sophie Kinsella's name when she first started to write) they are being re-released under with new covers.

It depends how old she is? I mean at the moment I'd want some nice perfume, a good mascara, or some nice cosmetics from the Sanctuary which you can get in the BIG OLD BOOTS NEAR WHERE YOU LIVE!!!!!

Happy xx

cheers for the help, problem with any cosmetic type stuff is she works for Molton Brown who are a 'Luxury' (posh and expensive) cosmetics company so she gets better quality stuff than i can get her for nuthin from work.

as for the fluffy socks, i wish we had old navy stores over here (the jeans i'm wearing now are old navy) but i'll see if we do an equivalent.

i'd love to do the jewelery shelf/frame thing but i just aint got time at the moment, any craft time i get is goin on Christmas orders from my Folksy store.

if she hasn't already got the wickman books that's a great shout!

Yeah fair enough I've heard of Molten Brown Happy!

I just double checked it Wickham not Wickman.

AND they do those fluffy socks in accessorize which to be honest is a great shop to buy presents for sisters from.
