Do you wear glasses?

Hi Tracey. Sounds like the centres of your lenses could be out of line. The optician usually measures the distance between your eye centres from your nose to the middle of each eye to make sure the lense strength is in the right place. Another thing that may cause this problem is the curvature of the lens at the edges. Sometimes it creates a sensation of things on the perifral collapsing in.

If the distance between the lens rims at the nose is wider it can cause this problem. Most glasses are measured by the lens width, nose width and arm length. These are the 3 figures shown on the inside of the arm. Mine are 52 18-135. This is 52mm across the lens, 18mm across the nose and the arm is 135mm. Mine are fairly standard.

Take them to an optician to get the centres checked

I tried out glasses crafter and got my specs today \o/ They're great and I really like them. They took about 2 weeks from placing the order to recieving them but they cost about a tenth of the cost of my other glasses and are practically the same - except the new ones are a bit funkier I was really happy and would use them again. Well I had to return my glasses to SelectSpecs as it distorted my vision. Turns out that I entered my prescription incorrectly, so SelectSpecs are going to put in new lenses for me!! Can't wait to receive them!!

Two pairs for 56 quid because I haggled and my head is small enough to fit kids specs. And I had a coupon from work. Haggling is a slowly dying art form.

Tracey. I'm glad you have managed to sort out your glasses. I've just had my varifocal lenses cut to fit into a new frame. The old frame is now in my spare parts box.....LOL

I am super blind! I wear glasses sometimes, but contacts mostly. I like contacts because I can wear sunglasses with them

I got my first pair of glasses when I was 13 and I wear them 24/7. I can see things up close perfectly but when things are far away it's all blurry. I actually like glasses. I feel 'incomplete' or 'naked' without them. I always wear bold glasses because I wear them like an accessory not because I have to. It's better to have fun with them then to hate wearing them. In my profile pic I'm actually wearing my old glasses. They are clear pink/red thick frames. My glasses now are quite cool (at least to me)... They're black and white stripes with a solid black top.

I should wear glasses. I HAD to wear glasses when I was about 4 or 5? It wasn't until I was about 8 or 9 that I didn't have to wear glasses anymore, but for the last 3 or 4 years I have had to go back to wearing glasses occasionally when I'm watching TV, on the Computer, driving, reading etc anything that needs focus and concentration, but I don't really, with the exception of driving.

I'm not so keen on my glasses.

I'd love to wear a pair like Lo's but I don't know if they would suit me?!

The shape of the frames a like Lo's but they aren't as bold. I'd like to wear glasses like an accessory so I actually looked good at the same time.

@ Lolly Bot: Thanks! When I was shopping around for a pair (after my red ones but before the black and white ones) I wasn't sure if I could pull off a pair like I had now. I loved them but I was worried about if they would suit me. I got my friend to come with me and she said I should get them because anything will suit you if you feel like they do. As long as you like them and you feel good in them people will think they suit you. If you get them but you are kinda uncomfortable in them then it'll show. So I say go bold and wear them proud!

I don't know if you have a store like this near where you live but I shop at a branch called "Laurier Optical". What I like about the store is that they have a huge display case with one of a kind glasses. They are usually a bit more bold then the others but the thing about that display case is that they only order 1 of everything and they don't "refill" the shelves with the same pair so you don't walk around with the exact same pair as 30 other people. I was the only person in my high school and in my town (that I saw) with clear red glasses or black and white stripes and I liked that. My friend got a new pair of glasses and within a month 3 other girls at our school had the same pair.

Lo: Thanks for the advice. Unfortunatly I don't think there is a store like that near me, but I shall keep my eyes open LOL. I'm due to have my eyes tested anyways so i shall have a look around. I think if I had more confidence in the glasses I wore then I would wear them more often which is probably why I don't wear them much now. So many people today have said the who "confidence" thing to me today, so maybe that's exactly what I needed. Thanks for the kick up the arse!!

I wear glasses and I love them~ (I think I look better with them than without them) though sometimes I wish I didn't need them. Like when I'm swimming or going to sleep (I like to see what might be in my room, haha)

Well my glasses should arrive within the next 2 weeks or so. They are rather bland - just a silver frame but if the prescription is right this time round I think I'm going to order myself a FUNKY pair! Must say that SelectSpecs has great customer service!!!

I wear glasses. Just your run of the mill glasses, though, nothing special.
I'm just nearsighted, so, my glasses didn't cost oodles.
