Do you wear glasses?

Dragonfly...have a look at the designer sections on glassescrafter.com and selectspecs.com....prices include lenses.
I tried on the glasses I wanted in the opticians, "Guess", noted down the code number, then bought them less than half price!

My parents, half siblings and I all wear glasses, but my little brother doesn't!! I've always been jealous of him for that...My ex husband is legally blind, but I'm pretty sure our daughter has perfect vision. She can always see things better than me. My fiance is also legally blind, and he recently (finally!) bought himself a new pair of glasses(he never let me see him in his old pair, he calls them 'birth-control' glasses). The new ones are cute, squarish black plastic frames, sort of geeky, but trendy. The pair I have I've had since my Sofi was a baby, and they were the first pair I'd gotten since I was 15. The old pair had been welded back together a couple of times, plus they were all bent out of shape, and kept losing screws.
I'm wanting to get a red plastic pair, sort of cat-eyed looking, to go with my sweetie's pair. I like the vintage look.

I have to wear glasses 24/7 now. Woo -_- Best thing is, I get cute glasses. Bad thing, I have to get new ones for driving cause I can't see out of my peripherals.

so where are all the pictures of fellow crafters wearing glasses Happy I been wearing glasses since I was 11....My mom always said it was because I would stay up late and read books in the dark with my flashlight LOL!!! But they are highly expensive, mine were a little over 300 bucks, and that is with discount AND insurance! crazy huh?

Oh my..
I was going through the site of the optician and I found a frame I loveeeeeee!
http://www.specsavers.nl/brillen/fashion/leaf?p_f=45&start=72

But I actually want a brown frame because I already have a pink one.
I want one pair of glasses in a plain color and one that stands out (and that is the pink one)

My Victorian Pince Nez. I'm so excited as they've got my prescription in them. Took about 2 weeks for optician to get the lenses flat enough to fold in Happy

That's quite interesting Sheila - Do you hold them?
Unfortunately my glasses have not yet arrived....

Hi Tracey. Hope you get your new glasses soon. Yep pince nez are held up to the face. With a single lens I can see distance if I hold them slightly further away and closer for reading. It was so funny when I took them to the opticians as they hadn't seen any for years. The optician only charged me for the lenses as he wanted a chance to work on them. The poor girl at the counter was asked 'what do you ask a lady who brings in a pair of pince nez?' She looked so confused........the answer is 'are you left or right handed?' The lenses would be reversed for a left hander. Could get her an extra 5% on her exam paper......Lol

@Sug....I'm wearing my glasses in my profile pic ;)

I've been wearing glasses since about gr 4- can't go without them as everything past about a foot in front of my face starts getting really blurry and stuff even just across a room can be totally non-existant to me. lol The first time I wore glasses I was shocked to discover that individual blades of grass actually were distiguishable from a moving car. >_<
I'll have to take a look at those sites as I should be probably be getting my eyes checked again soon-ish just to make sure my vision hasn't gotten any worse (the change is far more gradual now so I don't always notice that I'm not seeing quite what I used to.) Too, my frames are starting to look a bit worse for wear (not bent this time, but the paint is getting rather scratched).
I have a bunch of single use contacts that I wear occasionally but I use them mainly for drama productions- it got to the point where I was basically running blind in period productions (like a Robin Hood one where the stage crew had to put black electrical tape on the edges of the steps so I could actually distiguish one step from another!) so I didn't really have a choice. I'm pretty good with contacts now, but I have a stigmatism that isn't one of the standard ones that disposables come made for so one eye will sometimes blur momentarily which is kind of a pain. Happy
Overall I prefer glasses except for having to clean them constantly (especially when I'm working on detailed stuff like jewellery where even the tiniest bit of dust seems to mess with what I'm seeing), that and the fact that wearing safety goggles can be a pain- I'm extremely thankful that the ones I had at college this winter actually stayed on over my glasses!
I find it pretty funny that my youngest brother is the only one in my household who doesn't wear glasses for one reason or another, although our other brother switched to wearing contacts about 2yrs ago and almost never wears glasses now. My mom has her's for reading, but my dad, brother and I all wear them for distance stuff so we have to have them on all the time. I mostly wish I didn't have to wear them, simply as a convenience thing, (they get in the way at the most annoying of times- like trying to plug cords into the back of a computer. Seriously, I couldn't turn my head to see the proper slot since it pushed my frames out of my line of vision >_<) but I've had them for so long now that even wearing contacts I try and adjust them and the like.

@Sheila- I love the pince nez. totally awesome Happy

@Serpentira....I know all about making jewellery whilst wearing glasses. It's a really mucky job. When I was at college I wore an old pair of single lensed specs for doing heavy work. I had to wear a face mask, sort of rounded one while doing some extreme sanding of a piece that had black resin encased in silver. I hadn't noticed the amount of fine dust that had been created. I took the mask off and went for coffee. Unable to see properly I took my specs off. They were covered in a grey film. Then someone shouted out 'MONKEY!' I was horrified when I looked in a mirror. Where my glasses and mask had been there was pale skin, everywhere else was grey!! Lol Happy

I can't wear conntacts because my eyes are too miss shaped for them. Poet John Hegley has made a living from his glasses so can't be all bad Happy

The pince nez will be going to Whitby goth festival with me so I have an excuse not to open doors or basically do anything for myself....lol

Well my glasses from selectspecs.com arrived today and I was very excited! ... Thing is when I put them on writing and images on my computer screen narrow from left to right, and so do objects in my home. My other glasses have never done this. What could be the problem?

I need glasses for driving and probably should wear them more often, even if I'm not driving xD
I don't like them, though. I think they look quite cool, but wearing them just feels strange, even after 3 years.
