Craft Clubs
Hi guys,
I was wondering, has anyone started up a craft club in there area? Hoping to meet like-minded people in my area, for inspiration, hints and tips....
I was thinking of starting up one in Herts/Beds/Bucks, first of all, is anyone interested? and secondly, any tips for starting one up?
Thanks!
My mom set one up a few years ago, tho my grandma stole it for lack of better words... but the main thing is that you need to put it out there that you're interested in starting one (fliers with your # on them are a good way) and find out where people are and whats going to be ok for their schedule. you then need to get all the people intrested to have a meeting so that you can set the details like when and where. something to keep in mind is to not try and force people to do things (my grandma tried to do that and almost everyone quit) so just enjoy being around other people who love to do crafts lol.
u could try meetup.com its a site set up specifically for that of all different things
Secret squirrel, I would love to join your club, if only I wasn't 400 miles away
I haven't been a member of a club, but I've been in quite a few "craft associations" over the years, and here is what always happens:
You get the "take-over merchant" the bossy one who joins later, but wants to be the one to organise everything, and wants everything done her way
You get the " commitee member" who wants to start up, and be in charge of, various unnecessary comittees, such as "steering comittee", "social comittee", also wants to take in subscriptions and be the "treasurer"...almost always someone who's worked in Local government for a year or two before having children and imagines herself running some huge organisation.
The "whinger" who complains about everything, e.g this is the worst night we could meet on, I don't want a biscuit, those are the ones I hate. I can't have that coffee, I only take decaff...etc.
The "mortal enemies"...two people who for some inexplicable reason, seem to hate each other, and refuse to get along.
Then there will be four or five perfectly nice people, who just want a pleasant and enjoyable evening (that's us!)
So you just have to be careful, and hope your club has all the nice, easy going folk!
