New IRC channel (chatroom) for us all to chat in ^_^

Hey all!

With the wonderful help of my bf we now have an IRC channel set up for us to talk in Happy. Now do not fear if you have not used it much before like me as he has been kind enough to write up a quick Tute on how to get into the channel. For those who can't install anything on their is also a link to log into the room within your internet browser.



Those who cannot install IRC onto the computer can use this following link to allow you to get into the room just within your browser.

Here are the instructions as follows:

Download mirc from http://www.mirc.com/

Open mirc

There will be a nag screen – just click continue (nag screen is a minor annoyance, you can use mirc for as long as you want, there are other free alternatives out there, but setting them up is beyond the scope of this quick tutorial)

Options will automatically open – it will prompt you for your full name, email address, username and alternative username (in case that name is already taken)

Most people don’t like giving out their full contact details online, so no need to fill in the real name and email if you don’t want to – just put in the usernames.

Under the “Connect” menu item on the left you will see “Servers” (if this isn’t visible click the little + icon next to connect to expand the menu).

Click servers and a huge (alphabetical) list will appear – scroll down the list until you see the EsperNet folder, double click this and “Random Espernet Server” will appear, double click this and the servers will disappear and your username screen will be back.

Now hit “Ok” and this screen will disappear.

Click the little ‘lightning bolt’ icon that’s under the file menu, this will connect you

Some writing will briefly scroll up the screen, when it stops type (without quotes) “/j #cutoutandkeep

You should now be in the chatroom

Next time you open mirc it should remember these settings, you will simply be able to click the connect button then type /j #cutoutandkeep




Hope that was easy for all to understand and I look forward to talking to everyone in person ^_^ I'll be in there as Rhibi (just remember that my computer is always turned on whether I'm awake or asleep or out of the house so if I don't reply its because I'm not sitting at my desk so don't think I'm ignoring you Tongue).

If you do come and join please keep all chat to an acceptable level. I don't know the ages of everyone who is in the room and while I will be a MOD I won't be there all the time to keep an eye on it.

I've got my computer (or actually my bf has) to load it up each time I switch my laptop on so its just in the background. Its quite cool. Hopefully more people will sign up soon Happy

It says I can only use it for 30 days because it's an evaluation copy... so after 30 days will it carry on working anyway or will I have to find a registration key from somewhere?

Ezme there should be a Mac version somewhere, I know because my bf uses a mac. Ill go and see if I can find the Mac version for you Happy

So far only Kit kat and Izzy I have seen in the room. Both times you were in the room Izzy I wasn't at my computer, sorry i missed you Happy Maybe we will have to work out some times when we are free so we can all have a proper meet Happy

Making a meeting time sounds like a good idea. I've been trying to load it up each time I switch my laptop on so its in the background. Thats what my bf does as it apparently changes colour when someone has said anything.
