That was my initial response too, but my roommate got one and she swears by it ... she says it's really easy, not messy, she's never had it overflow or anything (that was something I said I would worry about and she said no way)... and you don't have to excuse yourself to the bathroom every few hours because apparently it's good for 12 hours or so at a time. And for the reusable part... well... definately good for the environment... and she says it's really super-simple and easy to wash up. *shrugs* I'm considering it... she also said that $35 once means she doesn't have to spend $5-$8 every month... which... was a good point, no? lol.

but I just... I don't know. It seems EXTREMELY uncomfertable and just... not coo man, lol. IDK... not for me.

I don't care about all the things it can do or money it will save I still think it is gross.

Yeah, I don't wear those either. But they do have a new kind that soaks all the crap up like a baby diaper so as long as you change it nothing touches you.

I'm undecided about these kind of things too, I mean yeah they're good for the environment and save you money and all that, but imagine having to wash the thing *barf*

ya but at least it's your own stuff you're washing, right? that makes it not AS bad.

I've been meaning to get one for ages (I've seen them called Moon Cups) but I haven't had enough money in one go yet. I also don't think my mum would approve, and if I stopped using towels she'd get worried. I'll probably start when I go to uni. I know it's a bit icky, but the whole process is anyway, and the thought of all those millions of towels mounding up in landfills really freaks me out. Okay, quick estimate, I use maybe 20+ a month, that's 240 a year. I'll be getting my periods from the age of like eleven till at LEAST fifty or so. That seems like a lot of waste for blood.

I also saw somewhere a tut on making your own cloth pads. =p

If I had the cash for one I would use it. I hate pads, tampons are painful for me most of the time and I like the idea of not having to change it for a few hours.

I would be pretty sketchy at first about it leaking, so I would use it at home first I think. For me, the benefit of spending less every month and NO waste, is amazing!

I don't think it's gross at all, what's gross is landfills full of discarded bloody tissues, nappys and sanitary towels!

The only thing I'm worried about is using it in public toilets, because you have to wash them out every now and then and I don't think I'd be comfortable with cleaning that in front of everyone =P but you can carry a little bottle of water round with you.

I use tampons and they are flushable. As long as you don't have a septic tank.

I'll save the world one piece of garbage at a time with somthing else. For those of you who can use it, good for you, ya'll are better woman than I.

I don't use tampons because of the risk of infection. Scares the hell out of me.
