Bicycles
I was thinking about ditching my daily train commute and cycle to work instead.
I have been looking at used bikes but I am not really sure what to get. Since I live in a small place, I was looking into a folding bicycle. Would this be suitable for city cycling?
How much maintenance does a bike need? How often should I get it serviced?
If I did get a used bike, is there anything I should look for? (Ie potential problems?)
Thanks in advance
Are you looking to get a fixie bike or one with multiple speeds?
Used bikes can come with chain issues, bent rims, and brake cable and pad issues.
Bikes should be serviced at least once a year.
Also keep in mind that bikes are made in different sizes and getting one that's too small or big for you can hurt your muscles and bones.
Consider where you are going to be riding - if it's mainly roads avoid mountain bike tyres (you can always switch them out) The extra grip makes it harder then necessary! Go for hybrid or a city bike.
You also need to think about the terrain you cycling over - hilly or flat? folding bikes (that I have seen, not speaking from experience here) have smaller wheels and fewer gears which again can make to going tougher than it needs to be!
And echoing Monika make sure your bike is set up to suit you, the saddle height makes more difference than you realise

I've been wanting to get this one but it's only available on line and I want to see it in person before buying it I really wanted an authentic 40-50's era bike but I also know nothing about them
ohhh, I like it. And its around my price range - with the exchange rate
I have decided against getting a bike. London traffic is horrible and I am scard to death about bike riding around here. Maybe one day I will get the guts.
