Homemade Clothing Dye

Hi there, crafters Happy
I've been recently making WHITE clothing, so I've decided to dye them in a wash-style (you know, like watercolor wash?)

Since I am not able to go out and by some chemical dye, I've decided to make homemade dye. One problem is I'm not so sure if I can use various leaves grown in my home.

I was wondering if maybe I could use maple leaves, mint leaves or even grass as a dye?

Answers would be great Happy

Check out these sites. I think the first one would be especially helpful.

I dyed velvet ribbon for my wedding dress with good strong irish tea. That was 13 years ago and it stayed a lovely tawny brown.

Tea, coffee, and curry powder are 3 definite things that can dye white clothes by staining them. I guess that's all great if you like yellows and browns, lol.

As for other colors, food coloring does stain but a lot of the color washes out...it's great though if you just want light tints and not bold colors.
