Any Crafty Gardeners out there?
I have an allotment with my bf and I love going down there. Its so peaceful and gives me time to think. We're growing some veg at the moment - Sweetcorn, Onions, Leeks, Tomatoes & Chilli Peppers, some bulbs and I've got a herb patch and some lavender. I love all the smells to the herbs and bulbs are nearest the shed where we have our chairs.
I also love it as its so cheap. Our plot which is a half plot (plenty for 2 people who work) and it costs about £14 a year.
Anyone else garden? What do you grow? Any tips?
me me me.
I grow beans and herbs and flowers
How long have you been gardening? We're had our plot about 4 years. Last year was a bit crap as the weather in England was awful, it rained most of the summer. I know that's what England is famous for but please..... It was like a bog. The plot is right by the river too so when we get heavy rain some poor souls plots get flooded, thankfully ours doesn't but it must be heartbreaking for those who are affected.
Also have you had any crops of flowers yet. Thats my favourite feeling. I look sitting watching the bee and butterflies doing their thing with something we grew. I'm a bit of a softy and probably a bit of a hippy I also love eating stuff we grew.
most of my life, we grew our own veggies growing up
and btw, great profile pic
and yes, some flowers are sprouting!
We've had some crocuses and dafs. Got some other flowers sprouting but we've forgotten what they are (pos tulips??). Also onions & leeks growing well and sweetcorn on windowsill almost ready to plant out
I am going to get some primroses
Primroses are so pretty. I love anemones and I forgot to grow any this year I think it maybe a bit late to plant some but I might have a look. I planted an odd assortment of flowers the other day. They were seeds my bf's parents found in their shed Some forget me knots which I hope come up as they're really pretty too.
oh I love those, I a thinking about roses
I have roses now, and I am starting a terraced garden now
I get a bit scared of roses. I'm not sure why but they look complicated to grow. I love the smell though. We're got a few roses at the daycentre I work at and the yellow one is lovely.
I want to grow black ones.
We are adding a rock garden to our garden, and I am still terracing the hill.
Started some catnip off on the window sill last week and its already got little shoots We have a cat down the allotment who often comes to visit and sits on my lap and gives me plenty of love when I'm feeling poo so I thought I'd plant something for him
aww thats sweet
Catnip is growing well and all my peas are coming up and are almost ready to plant out
I am going to post pictures of my garden soon
