Sour Power Strawberry Dorval Candy Belts
I LOVE these things but I don't want to pay 20-40$ to have them shipped to the US I found the ingredients online and was wondering how I would make them? I've made Gummy Bears before so I'm thinking the process could be similar.
INGREDIENTS:
Sour Power Strawberry Dorval Candy Belts...(No animal or milk products involved).
Sugar, Glucose-Fructose Syrup, Wheat Flour, Malic Acid, Dextrose, Citric Acid,Palm Oil, Artificial Flavors, Antioxidants (Ascorbic Acid,D-Tocopherol),Turmeric Extract (color), Artificial Color: FD&C Red 40, FD&C Blue 1.
Questions:
Is Glucose-Fructose Syrup like Karyo Syrup?
What would I use for Strawberry flavor?
What store could I go to to get all of the ingredients, I don't want to buy online?
I've tried other brands like sour dudes and sour punch and they suck! They taste nothing like Sour Powers and are waxy nasty. The ones from Mexico taste pretty close to real sour powers but they give me a head ache.
I believe u can use karo syrup for a recipe like this, and i think michaels might have the strawberry flavor, i know for sure Hobby lobby will have it.
They make sour strips like this all over the place. There are a few candy shops that sell these down town in my city, literally in barrels. I've also seen them at Sweet Factory which you can find in almost any mall. They are the sour power brand and you can buy them by the pound. If you're looking to buy them in bulk <a hret"http://www.amazon.com/Sour-Power-Straws-Strawberry-200/dp/B006ONMQGS/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1344785089&sr=8-17&keywords=dorval+sour+power+belts">Amazon sells a pack of 200 for under $20
A candy making book should have all you need to make and get ideas for your own candy. I love changing recipes!
