I have tried many, right now using herbal Essens deep clean, but still super greasy at the end of the day.

I have tried dove, pantene, head and shoulders...I once used tesseame(oh howevr you spell it) my sister gave it to me, but my hair went uber greasy after it dried....

was considering natural options...what would work.

Try a Pantene 2-in-1 Shampoo/Conditioner; my hair gets too greasy if I use conditioner on it after every regular shampoo, so I just opted for a shampoo that does everything.

I don't use a conditioner, but when I run out I will try a 2 in 1

Do you maybe have a bit of dandruff? When my dandruff acts up my hair gets greasy easily too. I use this special shampoo called "Nizoral" and it really helps me. After one use my scalp stops itching and my hair feels light and soft again. I only use it once in a while as a pick me up instead of using it a couple times a week.

You should also look into some dry shampoo. You can spray it on your hair and it's supposed to make it look and feel fresher.

Another trick is to rub baking soda on your scalp at night before bed. I was told to do this but I've never tried it myself. Some people say to use baby powder but I think any powder would work because it will soak up the moisture.

Also try not to touch your hair during the day because the oils from your fingers will make it more greasy.

Also, how often do you wash your hair? Washing it everyday will actually make it more greasy in the long run because by washing it so much you are stripping away the natural oil and your hair will build up it's own oil to add moisture creating grease. It's weird but it's true! Try cutting back to every second or third day and it might help.

I wash my hair every second day because I have always had a really dry scalp and washing it everyday kills me. I find my hair looks and feels less greasy than my best friends hair and she washes it everyday.

Back to the baking soda idea... You should really try this:

1- Take an empty shampoo bottle.
2- Add some baking soda in and than pour in a bit of your shampoo
3- Now add a bit of water to make a paste.
4- Shake, wet your hair and wash it with the paste
5- Leave on for 15 minutes.
6- Rinse out, and wash your hair with your normal shampoo.

It should add volume and get rid of the grease.

I use herbal essences at the moment but Charles worthington shampoo is good, a bit pricey though unfortunately. I'd recommend using either a 2in1 shampoo or just not using a conditioner. Also Dry shampoo spray like batiste is fantastic stuff, I always find if my hair goes greasy and I dont have time to wash it that it works really well.

i use avon naturals thickening shampoo and its nice because it is pretty light but it really gets the grease out. Also make sure you really soap up your roots twice! you just have to find a shampoo basically just soap and nothing special!

Okay--here's the low-down from an actual hairstylist.

a) The stuff you buy at the grocery store, Walmart, etc. is not going to give you the results that you ultimately want. Pantene actually has wax in it--hence why it makes your hair feel so soft. If you really want something that's going to make a difference, you should look into professional products. But not the "professional" products at Walmart--that's called product disbursement and they actually aren't allowed to sell real professional product. Smart Style sells good professional product--I think cheapest would be TIGI or Design Line.

b) Don't actually wash your hair every day. Your skin secretes an oil called sebum oil--ever notice an oily sheen on your face at night? That's sebum. Your scalp also secretes it. Sebum oil is actually the best conditioner for your hair (think back to the old days...brushing your hair 100 strokes to get that oil down to the ends of the hair). So when you shampoo your hair, it strips all the oil from your scalp and hair. Doing this every day, your skin starts to notice that it's all gone and will start to over-produce oil to compensate. Therefore: washing your hair less will actually help it chill out. I wash my hair maybe once a week, and simply rinse it in the shower every day. It'll take about two weeks for your skin to figure out it doesn't need to over-compensate though, in that time I suggest ponytails, braids, hats, or dry shampoo--applied only to the ends of the hair.

I hope this helps, feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Also--conditioner is your friend. Especially if you live in a dry climate. Shampoo once a week, condition after you shampoo. That might be part of the issue as well. Your skin thinks it REALLY has to over compensate.

Conditioner will help your hair stay healthy and not dry or brittle. Your hair can actually break off at the ends, conditioner can help with split ends, breakage, and overall awesomeness of hairs. Happy

I don't wash my hair every day! That's so bad for your hair! I do use Dove shampoo and conditioner because I love their products.

I try to deep condition my hair once a week and usually when I do that I don't shampoo afterwards, I just rinse it out and even if I haven't shampooed in a couple of days my hair is fine.

Shampoo is very drying for your hair and as an end result your hair will over-produce oils causing it to get greasy and gross faster. Before shampoo was mass-produced women only felt it necessary to shampoo their hair once a month! They had no need to shampoo more than that and they had very healthy hair. Check out old Victorian photos and admire how lovely their hair is and then consider how little they washed. I don't think I will ever get to the point where my hair is healthy enough for me to only need to shampoo once a month- I use hair spray and hair dye after all. I have no idea how natural it really is but it is amazing stuff. my hair has been really healthy since I've started using it and I've noticed my hair totally doesn't fall out in large amounts in the shower anymore (even after I dye it).

I have recently been trying out a new shampoo called naturals by Avon (there I go pushing Avon products again; you'd think I sold it). I'm not really sure how natural it is but it is pretty amazing. It has actually cut down the amount I've needed to shampoo my hair by another day (so instead of washing my hair every other day I can get away with washing it ever 3 days! woot!) My sister who sells avon gave me a free bottle of it and so I’ve been using it and really love it. I’ll probably buy the shampoo and conditioner when I run out.

BTW- I tried the baking soda shampoo a couple months ago and it left my hair so gross I couldn’t stand it. It was both greasy and brittle at the same time. So nasty- it had no life or body to it. I wouldn’t ever recommend it. I do recommend washing your hair with egg. I have found that effective. Plus before shampoo women used a mixture of egg whites, rose water and rum to wash their hair. But I beat my egg and yoke together with a teaspoon of water and shampoo with it and find it works just lovely.

I shampoo every day, but that's mostly because my hair isn't longer than 4 inches in any spot since I got it cut a week ago, so it gets whatever oils it needs every day.

Older people I used to know always recommended eggs and stale beer, ale, or lager.

As far as trying to get rid of excess oil, I would suggest trying to brush a little bit of baby powder into your hair. When I worked with photographs for a big art project, I had to use baby powder to keep my hands from releasing too much oil. I've been putting a bit of baby powder in my corgi's fur to keep it from getting too oily since her fur tends to get that way when she sheds, and it seems to have helped a lot. It's even softened her fur... plus she smells nice.

Dry shampoo or talc are good boosters during the day when you feel your hair's got a bit greasy.

If you do decide to use a conditioner, a better way of using it is putting it on your hair first, waiting (while you wash your other body parts maybe,) comb through, then, without rinsing, wash your hair with shampoo, and then rinse it all out.

Also try halving the amount of shampoo you use, and doubling the amount of time you spend rinsing it out.

Another tip is don't use overly hot or cold water on your hair because it will make it create oils, use luke warm water (even though that's horrible for you when you're in a hot bath.)

Have you tried brands specifically for greasy hair? Those formulations would probably suit you better.

Hope all that helps Happy

I have oily hair too. I suggest washing your hair in cold water (this actually helps shrink your scalp pores, which means less oil secretion on hair): 1) Lather your scalp thoroughly, do not lather the ends of hair because when you rinse the shampoo will run down the rest of your ends. Make sure all the suds are gone before applying conditioner. 2) Use light conditioner. ONLY condition the ends of your hair. I say this because your scalp already produces enough oil to cover your scalp. Conditioning gives back all the vitamins (the goodies) the shampoo just washed off. Without using conditioner your hair may feel more and maybe even look oily. 3) Use a wide toothed comb. If you have straight hair, brush your hair once a day. My tip: after I brush my hair, I shake my head(do not use hands!) to separate hair strands, so when my hair is drying my hair won't be clumpy. I do not know why this method causes less oil secretion, but it works. 4) When your hair is completely dry lightly rub baby powder to your scalp. I have black hair and I use small amount of baby powder on my hair and rub the powder until there is no visible white streaks. The powder absorbs oil and makes your hair look less greasy. 5) STAY AWAY from hair products that will add more build up to your hair.

This is my daily routine in maintaining healthy, less oily hair days and more happy care-free moments. ^.^
