Present for an artist?

My mum's a painter and I want to make her something really special for Mother's Day (our family doesn't actually celebrate it, we believe it's just a superfluous holiday designed to earn card companies more money - we usually celebrate it on her birthday instead but I've not been very nice recently and I think it would be a nice surprise). Does anyone have any ideas? I've already thought of making her a roll-up thingy for all her paintbrushes but she has hundreds, it wouldn't hold very many of them at all.

All ideas are welcome Happy

Maybe for her paintbrushes, you could like get lots of mason jars and paint them...or...hm...I don't know. Some creative way to store paintbrushes, like maybe a wall hang-y thing with pockets in it?

Courtney: Thanks for the suggestion, but she already has more decorated jars than a single person really requires Tongue
Michelle: She has one of those too! It's just one huge predicament...

You could make more than one paintbrush roll-up...Happy
Something I always like getting as gifts are supplies. Especially cuz I am a cheap-o, and won't usually buy the *best* brands, because I try to make my money stretch. But if someone else gets it for me, I'm thrilled!

Oh, Hey, what about taking one of those oasis block things(the green foam blocks they stick fresh/fake flowers into), and pre-poking it with holes, for her brush-handles. Then you can decorate it with buttons, or bits of fabric, or ribbon/yarn....hot-glue or epoxy it into a pretty bowl or saucer...then she can display all her brushes like flowers!

Hand made journal.Really enjoying making these currently. Loads of " how to's" on the site.

SparrowFae: Haha, I'm really short on money at the moment, that's why I'm opting for the homemade thing ;) But yeah, I could always just make her more than one roll-up, good idea! Ahh, the foam thing is such a great idea... I might do that! xD

Essex Debs: Oooh, she'd like that... she's thinking about keeping an art journal. Thanks! Happy

How about making an "inspiration" book. Take (or make) a scrap book and fill it with pictures of family. (especially ones of you as a kid, moms LOVE that) Make copies of originals though, just in case...And tell her that when she needs inspiration for her next painting, look through it.

Anyway, take all the pictures and put them in the book. Then as inscriptions for each page, remind her of how much you love her and of how important she is to you. For example..."picture of you as a baby...Mom, you made me, and for that I am thankful." or "Picture of her while she's painting...Mom, you are a beautiful talented woman and I'm so proud to be your daughter"

Just remember, your her daughter and she loves you more than life...If you took a turd and dipped it in chocolate, she'd still love you. Whatever you do doesn't have to be perfect...just from the heart. ;)

I always love when people buy me more canvas the most! lol But thats probably pricey.

I also love when people give me thier own artwork. So you can get a small lil canvas (pretty cheap), and make her something unique. Or make her some of your own ATC's (artist trading cards), maybe of all her favorite artists? ;)

Or i'm sure she'd love any cool craft thing u made from this site. ...i do. Happy Like maybe some kind of plushie that says "Make Art Not War" on it? Or a t-shirt that says "all good artists are a lil nutty" or somethin else clever as so.

Or just organize her art space for her? idk i'm just throwin out things lol.
