Our favorite artists, illustrators & comic book authors discuss their work and show us their take on our crafty supehero, Crafterella

I am a designer, illustrator, and calligrapher living in Boulder, Colorado, USA. When I was a little girl, I was constantly drawing ... I would nestle myself into the craft room of our family home and draw a story while I narrated it out loud. The story invariably focused around a princess in some sort of peril -- mostly because I liked illustrating women in beautiful dresses! Not many of my clients request pretty princess drawings (their loss!), so I decided to seize the opportunity to make a fashion-forward, princess-like Crafterella for Cut Out + Keep. I had a lot of fun creating this piece!

I'm a freelance illustrator living and working in London. My work is usually about characters in strange and cozy environments. I love colours, shapes, simplicity and weirdness. Most of my days are spent drawing, drinking tea and listening to audio books and podcasts. When I'm not working I love yoga, running and going on sketchbook adventures with my husband.

My name is Vladimir, I'm a graphic designer and illustrator living in Odense, Denmark. In my work I love to combine my interest and passion towards illustration and graphic design, with the use of both traditional and digital mediums. My inspiration comes from science and nature on one hand, and fantasy, fairy tales and all sorts of mysteries on the other.

I'm a 29 year old freelancing illustrator living in Sweden. I have a little family of two dogs and a boyfriend, and spend most of my days drawing.
In addition to doing commission illustration work, I also run A Grape Design, where I sell products with my illustrations to people all over the world! I'm super grateful being able to work with what I love doing the most.

Sarah Burford is the textile artist, illustrator and dreamer behind the pocket sized showgirls at Curious Pip.

The majority of Sarah's work is inspired by her lifelong fascination with old Hollywood - particularly the 1930's. She draws upon the style and sophistication of actresses such as Myrna Loy, Jean Harlow and Ginger Rogers to create unique, one off, art dolls and illustrations that mesmerize and bring to mind a bygone era of sizzling glamour.

Sarah has been making and painting for as long as she can remember. As a child she'd watch old movies and sketch all her favourite costumes, she'd also raid her grandmas cupboards and wardrobe - a treasure chest of hats, net curtains and old coats to create her very own unique dressing up box.

Curious Pip. has become a worldwide success since the business started in 2011. Last year she won Best Vintage Style Artist at The National Vintage Awards and enjoys a constant flow of work from all corners of the globe. Many of Sarah's dolls and illustrations have skipped off to destinations that Sarah's not yet even set foot.

Sarah works from her ever expanding studio space at home in Bristol UK which she shares with her dashing architect husband and cheeky six year old son.

I am a 20 year old artist(ish) from London. I draw cartoons, illustrations, visual diaries and general head burps. I love exploring my identity and turbulent states through art and I work with immediacy, so mistakes become assimilated rather than removed.

I'm a recent graduate with a degree in Illustration trying to draw for a living! I paint mostly in watercolor and my favorite things to paint are ladies with attitude, pretty clothes, and nature. I try to empower women through my art and I hope to get into the fields of fashion illustration and children's books! When I'm not painting, I'm working retail, going to thrift stores, and watching anime. I'm honored to be featured on Cut Out and Keep!

Arkolina is an illustrator from the south UK, her hair is constantly changing colour and she's almost always watching cartoons when she's not drawing, painting, working her day job or being harrassed by her Quaker Parrot. She collects toys and photographs them as a hobby and is looking forward to making the transition to full time freelance illustrator when she can. She thinks you're cute too.

Sailesh is a freelance digital designer by profession, but his heart lies in doodling. He currently spends his allotted doodling time, on an iPad, using the Paper by 53 app. It’s a challenging yet satisfying experience.

He encourages everyone to give art a go, especially on the Paper app, as he curates a #MadeWithPaper blog celebrating artwork created on the app by other artists - fuckyeahmadewithpaper.tumblr.com is where you can find it.
