Step 1to make this brooch i took a length of vintage lace and gathered it along one side with small tacking stitches and then pulled it tight to form a rufflei tied the threads together and joined the ends.

Step 2i then sewed on a cute button to the lace ruffle.

Step 3i made a suffolk puff/yo-yo following this tutorial
from Heather Baileyi then sewed the lace ruffle/button combo to the puff.

Step 4last of all i sewed them onto a crochet doily/coaster from my trusty stash - at the same time sewing on a brooch pin.

lovely idea, thanks for the tute, you are right with the commend i find allways in shops the doilys too, but of corse you can use some lace or use the paper doilys. And cover them with a layer of mod podge for fabric.

i pick up the doilies in the thrift store/charity shops, they are usually very cheap but if you are cleverer than me you coold crochet your own :0)
