• Step 1

  First make sure your egg is nice and clean.

• 

  Step 2

  At the top of the egg (the more narrow end), use the push pin to carefully puncture the egg shell and create a small hole. Make sure to do this step (and the next few steps) over a bowl so you don't make a mess.

  Step 3

  Do the same to the opposite end of the egg (this hole should be slightly bigger).

• 

  Step 4

  Use the sewing needle to puncture the yolk by inserting the needle into the bigger bottom hole. (Move the needle around to make sure you break the yolk).

  Step 5

  Now, by carefully holding the egg over the bowl, gently blow into the smaller top hole. It's ok to blow harder (the egg will be fine). What's left of the egg yolk should come out pretty easily. (if not, try using the sewing needle to make sure the yolk is broken). (Still having problems? Carefully make the bottom hole bigger by chipping the edges away with the pushpin).

  Step 6

  Time to clean up. Hold the egg under the sink and allow warm water to enter the egg from the two holes. After you are sure that the inside is clean, blow out the excess water.

  Step 7

  With the egg yolk, I made breakfast. Waste not!

  Step 8

  Grab some napkins and tear out the designs you like. (You can cut them out, but it looks nicer if the edges are torn.)

  Step 9

  Most napkins have two layers, a white one and the decorated one. Pull the white layer off and only ues the colored side to decorate.

  Step 10

  Using the paint brush, place a thin layer of mod podge on the area of the egg you wish to decorate.

• 

  Step 11

  Place the selected napkin piece onto the glue. Add some more glue on top of the piece and use the brush to smooth it over the egg.

• 

  Step 12

  Continue until the entire egg is decorated. I wanted mine to look like it was covered in leaves. (To avoid touching areas that are finished, you can insert a long stick/chopstick/skinny pencil/screw driver into the larger hole to hold the egg up.)

• Step 13

  After the glue has dried, add a full layer of mod podge on the egg. Allow to dry.

  Step 14

  Once dry, take the ribbon (about 7 inches long..)and fold it in half. Tie a knot with the two loose ends.

• 

  Step 15

  Insert the folded end with the needle into the larger bottom hole of the egg.

• 

  Step 16

  To make the ribbon go all the way to the other hole, use the sewing needle/chopstick/pencil to carefully push the ribbon where you want it to go. The knot should stop the ribbon from slipping through the egg.

  Step 17

  To ensure the ribbon stays where you left it, glue the ribbon in place. Allow for dry time. And... ta da! Your done. Enjoy.

Cool! I'm Russian, but I dont live there, so I miss all the Easter fun.
Great Project! I'll try that next Easter. I love eggs, so why not make breakfast too.Thnx 4 the idea!

I remember making these in school. We decorated our using onions skins and flowers. We put the petals and skins on cheese cloth, then wrapped the eggs and put it in boiling water with (I think?) vinegar. I never thought of decoupaging them. Now I want to blow some eggs and grab my mod podge!
