How to refashion man's shirt into Japanese style dress
This is a joint post for leggings and a polka dot dress refashioned from a mens shirt.

Firstly the leggings were incredibly easy to make. No pattern was necessary – I simply put a pair of existing leggings folded in half and cut around the shape. I sewed them using a zig zag stich stabilised with tissue paper.

As for the dress – this was refashioned from a mens shirt. No pattern is needed for this dress – the important thing is to have shirt with enough fabric on it. I used a XXXL shirt. Further more the dress is inspired by a Japanese style sewing, using simple lines and minimum stitching.

Tutorial for the dress is below.

I used a XXXL man's shirt. I prefer a shirt without pockets as that means I don't have to worry about removing them or trying to work them into the dress

Cut the curve bit off the sleeve. You will be left with two square-ish/triangular-ish parts that will be the base for the bodice.

Shape the bodice to fit. At this point you can pin it and try in on (or measure it) and shape it to how you want it. Cut out the neckline and sleeve area. After you have finished cutting out the whole dress you will sew it at the top and at the bottom sides.
