You can make sweet ones too, by filling them with jam/preserves or dried fruit.
I've always wanted to make them. Will have to try.

I keep seeing onigiri,they look yummy.But when I see that it's rice in a triangle form,then it doesn't look that gud.

Ahhhh, made these tonight and they are awesome! I filled mine with tuna and mayo, since I didn't have a chance to run to the asian market for some pickled plums. Tanks for the awesome tut :3

I made some like this before in my school's asian culture club....except for our club's didn't have the plums in the center..we used fish(mostly salmon)and date fruit.
Mine didn't turn out half as good as yours though....Happy

num num num. i went to a store and the nice lady gave me cooked rice and seaweed. Next time I would pound the rile flat on top of some saran wrap and then add a filling.

Several months ago, I was trying to figure out how to make onigiri. I wish you would have had this up then! It is by far the easiest "how to" I found on the subject, and you even said that you don't have to use the plumb stuff!

Thanks for making the lives of others easier! I'll be sure to point others this way when they ask how I make it. *hugs*
