So when you want to take a break from your summer reading, grab this go-to craft for some creative relaxation.

This pattern actually includes three different variations of this favorite frozen treat, and the best part about it is it’s a very simple embroidery pattern. Applying watercolors to fabric is a fun and quick way to add a splash of color to a black outline.

Step 1
Download the ice cream embroidery pattern above.
Step 2
Print out your chosen ice cream pattern and trace it with a pencil onto unbleached cotton muslin fabric. Tip: tape the pattern and fabric to a bright window for easier tracing.
Step 3
Stretch the fabric in your embroidery hoop and make sure it's taut, then stitch your ice cream cone according to the pattern's instructions. Tip: For video tutorials of the various stitches, visit http://www.bethcolletti.com/videos
Step 4
When you are finished stitching, use watercolors to paint your fabric while it is in your hoop. Use a little bit of water and paint at a time - unbleached cotton muslin fabric minimizes bleeding of the paint, but other fabrics may respond differently.
