A Victorian style top hat.
I made this top hat for my friend Alex's 20th birthday in March 2010. Hurray! xD

I didn't think I would turn this into a tutorial, therefore I didn't take any work-in-progress pictures, so I'm using generic photos. =/ Sorry! This is actually my first tutorial of anything ever!

    Step 1

    First I bought a plain green top hat from ebay, similar to this one.

    I then draped some black lace over it.

    I cut out the lace that laid on the very top of the hat, so I had an oval of lace.

    I then pinned all the lace accordingly, and started sewing it all to the hat. I used black thread, so it blended in with the lace.

    Then I wrapped this piece of light green ribbon around the hat.

    I glued it in place at the side of the hat, that way I could hide where the two ends met with the decorations.

    I tucked three stiff black feathers behind the green ribbon, then glued them in place.

    I hot-glued this pretty accessory on the side of the hat, where the two ends of the green ribbon meet.

    (I trimmed the lace on the brim, so no, it does not look this sloppy xD)

    Next I glued two pretty flowers next to the clock accessory...thing. ^^;
