About
Something to sink your teeth into
I made this cake yesterday for my little brother's 18th birthday. He really loved it. It was so simple to make and probably took me about 2-3 hours. I made the fondant decorations and icing while the cake was baking. That really sped things up.

You Will Need
-
Step 1
Make 1 yellow cake mix in 2 8" round pans. Make sure you fill 1 pan a little fuller than the other. This will give the top bun a really rounded look.
-
Step 2
Make 1 brownie mix (I used family size) in a 9" round pan. This way it will stick off over the edge of the bun.
-
Step 3
Make a 1/2 batch of marshmallow fondant
1/2 bag of marshmallows, 1/2 bag of powdered sugar, and 2 tbsp water. Microwave the marshmallows and until they puff up - about 2 minutes. Pour the mixture into your greased stand mixer (or you can hand knead - which takes soooo long). Beat in the powdered sugar with the bread dough hook until a soft, flexible (but not sticky) dough is formed.
-
Step 4
The finished fondant will be smooth. You can then roll it out on a greased surface to make the tomatos and onions (with a circle cutter) and the lettuce leaves. For the lettuce, you roll it out really thin and then stretch the edges to make a wave. I painted my leaves and tomatoes because it is easier than kneading coloring into the fondant.

Step 6
Then you put on the brownie layer. Frost this with chocolate in a very rough way to make it look lumpy like a burger. Then you want to add your fondant decorations. Then put on the top bun. Then you frost the top bun. I used brown piping gel on the top to give it the baked look. Then I used the small writing tip to make little seeds on the bun. My final step was to pipe on "mustard and ketchsup" frosting with the medium round tip.
