  • How to make a shoe lace. Fabric Shoelaces - Step 1
    Step 1

You only need a little bit of fabric for this and if you save your selvage edges, you could use those. I cut a total of 6 strips of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge 3/8″ wide. I used a rotary cutter to speed up the process.

Place three strips of the fabric together and duct tape it to a solid surface such as a table or counter top and start braiding. Hold the strips taut but not too tight. You want a nice firm braid but you don’t want it so tight that the strips are too skinny and not noticeable. {these pictures are terrible ~ I had my little guy ~ who can’t sit still for nothin’ ~ hold the braid while I took pictures….I hope you don’t get dizzy looking at this}. Once you have completed the braid end to end tie a nice tight knot at each end.

Cute! About how long was each strand you used before you braided them?
