  • How to make a crop top. Drawstring Crop Top - Step 1
    Step 1

Lay out a sleeveless top and measure from arm hole to arm hole to figure out the width of your top. Add 1" for seam allowance. Then decide on a length for your top. I cut mine at a 16 1/2" length. This number includes at least 1/2" for the hem and 1 1/2" for the drawstring. Fold your fabric in half and cut two rectangles using these measurements.

Hem the bottom of both pieces. Do this by folding over 1/4" and then 1/4" again. Pin and press. Stitch along edge.

Match up rectangles and fold down the top of the fabric (opposite end of hem) about 1 1/2". Using your sleeveless top again, lay it on top and mark where the bottom of your arm hole will start.
