• 

  Step 1

  You can begin with a commercially-made envelope, or you can create your own envelope. I have created my own envelope using a commercial envelope as a template, and a paper sack.

• 

  Step 2

  Measure the width and height (at the tallest point) of your envelope; then cut a rectangle in the paper you wish to use as a liner that is the width minus just a couple centimeters; and the height minus 30 cm.

• 

  Step 3

  Slip the rectangle into your envelope; then position it so that the top of the rectangle is flush with the top of your envelope. Flip the envelope over and trace its contour.

  Step 4

  You should end up with something that looks like this.

  Step 5

  Cut along the contour; I also trimmed a little more off the end of my piece because it was too long.

• 

  Step 6

  Slip the liner in the envelope to ensure that it's a good fit.

  Step 7

  Next, assemble your accessories for embossing: an embossing stamp pad, gold embossing powder, a pencil with a new eraser, and a heat gun.

  Step 8

  Use the eraser to stamp polka dots on your liner.

• 

  Step 9

  You should end up with something that looks like this; note I didn't go all the way to the bottom. (The bottom will not be visible to your recipient.)

  Step 10

  Next, pour embossing powder over your stamping, then shake it off.

• 

  Step 11

  Use your heat gun to set the embossing powder.

• 

  Step 12

  The result will be a nice, shiny finish!

• 

  Step 13

  Turn your liner around and put glue around the top back edges.

• 

  Step 14

  Slip your liner in your envelope, press down on the parts you glued, and enjoy your glam DIY snail mail!
