These DIY envelope liners featuring glittery gold polka dots are charming and glam all at once. I create them for casual correspondence, but they would be just as lovely used as invitation envelope liners.
These DIY envelope liners featuring glittery gold polka dots are charming and glam all at once. I create them for casual correspondence, but they would be just as lovely used as invitation envelope liners.
You can begin with a commercially-made envelope, or you can create your own envelope. I have created my own envelope using a commercial envelope as a template, and a paper sack.
Measure the width and height (at the tallest point) of your envelope; then cut a rectangle in the paper you wish to use as a liner that is the width minus just a couple centimeters; and the height minus 30 cm.
Slip the rectangle into your envelope; then position it so that the top of the rectangle is flush with the top of your envelope. Flip the envelope over and trace its contour.
You should end up with something that looks like this.
Cut along the contour; I also trimmed a little more off the end of my piece because it was too long.
Slip the liner in the envelope to ensure that it's a good fit.
Next, assemble your accessories for embossing: an embossing stamp pad, gold embossing powder, a pencil with a new eraser, and a heat gun.
Use the eraser to stamp polka dots on your liner.
You should end up with something that looks like this; note I didn't go all the way to the bottom. (The bottom will not be visible to your recipient.)
Next, pour embossing powder over your stamping, then shake it off.
Use your heat gun to set the embossing powder.
The result will be a nice, shiny finish!
Turn your liner around and put glue around the top back edges.
Slip your liner in your envelope, press down on the parts you glued, and enjoy your glam DIY snail mail!
