Semi-Formal?
at the end of the school year, we get a dance for just the 8th graders because we go off to high school in the fall. the dance is semi-formal (but i am not sure) so i dont want to go out and buy an expensive dress that would end up sitting in my closet. if anyone could point me in the right direction to a store that sells nice dresses that would be amazing
the dance is in the beginning of June so please help!
Is this an evening event or an after school event? You'll be going to high school next year so keep in mind that you can always re-wear the dress to your homecoming next year as well.
Checking the Junior dresses at Target.com right now there is a cute black dress on sale for about $9 that would work for a semi-formal event. There is also a cute ruffly dress on sale for about $15 there. And a peach colored slip dress for about $15 as well. And several others. I recommend you and your mom look online at target.com and see if there is something you like there.
i guess you could call it both evening and after school. all our other school dances start at 7:00 so it will most likely start then as well. thanks for the ideas! i will check out target when i can
If you live by a mall check out DEB they sell Junior clothes and usually have an awesome clearance section. I used to work there and know for a fact that the smaller sizes get priced lowest because they stay there the longest. I have gotten dresses for $1! Also let the staff know what you need usually they have stuff stashed.
Sometimes the goodwill has cute dresses, depends on where you live. Target is also a good choice.
Felecity, thank you for the suggestion to check out DEB. i know there is one by my grandparents house and there might be one in a mall not too far away from my house. i will take a trip up to that mall when i can. thank you!
You could always make an empire-waist dress with a circle skirt... it wouldn't be too hard until you had to figure out the bust/sleeves/etc.
Target and DEB usually have some cute Juniors dresses, but if you want a dress that will be better made and last longer, I'd suggest JC Penney.
I bought a dress for ridiculously cheap on sale (I would probably have paid more for the fabric itself!) and just modified it. Here's a link to my project: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/cute-reconstructed-dress
After prom, I just took the bow off the back again and voila! A casual dress I can even wear to school =]
Always Deb!
i'll try getting to a deb store asap
target, I got my semi-formal dress there for 20 bucks
