Making a Skirt....?

how do you make a skirt i would love to be able to make my own but i dont know how...anyone know?

What kind of skirt do you want to make? I'd suggest buying a stretch fabric, taking a skirt you own and tracing around it on to the fabric twice, cut out the two sides and stitch them together.

hm...i wanna make a littleless than medium skirt......doesnt have to be pleated (but id like it to be[if i knew howto])

Ok I'm messaging you a page from Eithne Farry's wonderful book, 'Yeah! I made it myself'

It's only one page on wrap-around-skirts, because I don't feel right doing it and I think you ought to buy the whole book really.. There are loads of skirt patterns in it, including pleated skirts!

I don't know if it'll be at a book store in America... It 's a British publication and it's hardly world famous. You could get it off amazon or something.

Ok well I'll give my own tutorial on a wrap around here because I don't feel right sending out copies of books to everyone.

A good place to start is by cutting out a shape that's like... half a donut, so you have a semi circle of fabric with a nother semi circle in the centre, which is where your waist goes.
Now all you have to do is hem it and put a tie on the top and you can wrap it around! You can embellish it also really easily if you like.
