Coraline Birthday party Ideas
Lo's idea is awesome, as are all the others!
Here's mine: Depending on how many children you invite, let them make ragdolls of themselves! When I make ragdolls, I almost always use scrap fabrics, or old clothes, but if you need to you can get some muslin or something, as the base fabric. To save on money and time, they could glue fabric on to the dolls for clothes, or paint it on. I wouldn't try this if you're inviting 10 or so kids, but if it's just a handful, have a mom-friend help you make the plain doll-bases. Of course, provide lots of buttons so they can sew(or glue) on the eyes! You could get a bunch of those cheap little plastic tapestry needles, provide one for each child(as a favor). For functional decorations, fill mason jars(or s'ketti sauce jars, whatever) with buttons(in one), yarn(in another). Or put them in pretty bowls.
Big weird fake flowers(like Birds of Paradise or something) would make cool decorations, too.
Gummy bugs would rock! OOH, and those gummy rats!!!!(Dollar Tree)
You are so lucky that her birthday is after Halloween, you can ransack the clearance sales!!!
SparrowFae has a good point! Since it is after Halloween there will be a boat load of stuff just waiting for you. OH!! You should get one of those 5$ black cats that has it's back arched like this ^. They're hard but hollow and covered in shiny black "hair" kind of like this one but without the light-up eyes:

And if you want you should get some black streamers (from the dollar store) and make a huge spider web design on your ceiling - you know, because of that last scene with the evil mom-spider creature lady.
I agree with what's been said about halloween, I think it would work for Coraline swimmingly
How about making button bracelets? They ought to be pretty simple. If not learn how to make them yourself and give them as party favors or prizes to the games.
How about making the cake like this?

Immediately when you mentioned cake I thought about the cake in the movie. You should look at the dinner scenes and see if you can recreate the dinner table.
You could get a length of ribbon and have the kids glue buttons on for Abbyka's idea.
What about round sugar cookies decorated like buttons and sugar cookie men+girls to decorate for a favor you can make+eat! The kids would be able to make themselves. Below is a recipe + examples! Good luck!

I didn't see this up there ^^ but what about Sew the Eyes on OtherMother (like Pin the Tail on the Donkey)?
You could make "charm" bracelets from Halloween plastic toys (cats and spiders), and skeleton keys, and buttons, and flowers. Slip/thread them onto an elastic cord and tie off.
Give EVERYTHING buttons- the gift bags, especially. It would be cute if they had button eyes.
I absolutely love the circus scene in that movie, so I wouldn't leave out the possibility of distressed colors- even a multicolored tent if you can manage it.
I would really tie the sewing into everything. I would have spools as chairs, even. (You could make them from a paper bag wrapped around a regular stool with cardboard circles on the top and bottom).
I would also have the Cat's tail in different places like he's running away or hiding (because he's awesome like that!)
For the invitations, I would cut them out so they're shaped like the house. I would have the Cat on the inside. I love making cards, so if you want any help making the template, message me and ask!
i was gonna say buttons scatter them over the food table etc.
There's a project right here on CO+K about how to make button skeleton keys. It uses a real key but I think it'd be easy to use key charms or something.

it would be neat if you took a pair of cheap sunglasses, and took big buttons and stuck the on the corners? try looking up ideas on google or yahoo there might be more anwsers
What if every one made there own seeing stone out of Polymer clay.
If you have the time, you could perhaps decorate the inside of a largish cardboard box with sparkley things, little lights and streamers. Large enough for the little ones to play in, and make a small door on the front of it so that it looks like the tunnel?
I was gonna suggest pinning button eyes on a person of some description, but someone beat me to it. How 'bout hiding the mice/rat things and getting people to find them for prizes. Or play 'Hunt The Eyes'.
And possibly hand your daughter a fake present SAYING it's her real birthday present, but it has two buttons and a needle and thread inside. Or is that too mean?
You could also try and make the candyfloss launcher machines too.
Omg this is such a good idea!! It would be fun to have a little hunt or a backyard game, to find all of the little button keys tied to a ribbon. As for the button key, A large black button and an old key spray painted black. Like one child gets one key each, and when the hunt is over, let them go into a special room that hasn't been visited in yet, that has candy, (but not all that much, for they would go crazy) popcorn, cheez- its, etc. I hope you enjoyed my idea. Hope it helped.
