Listings expire soon, should I renew them?
I listed some of the items I have made on Etsy, they are due to expire on 7th January. I'm undecided whether to renew them or leave them be. I have only had 1 sale since I opened my Etsy (and folksy) store.
My dilema: if I keep re-listing items and adding more I won't be making any money from them as they are cheap items. I'll also have the items taking up space, and if I make more, well, you can see where I'm going.
You could always try selling items via auction on Ebay and Tophatter. Etsy listing fees are a pain, especially if your items are less than $10 each. I feel your pain. I make soaps and it's hard to sell anything for more than $5.
I've recently opened up my selling to my Facebook page. No results yet, but it's seemed to have interested more people since it's so much easier than creating an Etsy account.
Tophatter is definitely a good place to check out though! You get $5 credit to bid on items just for signing up, and you can lost your first item right away. The only downside is that sometimes you have to wait up to a week for a suitable auction venue to open up.
I'm waiting for a tophatter invite now, and have invited people to say if they would like to buy anything i have made and displayed on facebook.
one thing i have noticed about paypal is sometime they charge you for sending someone money, as i did for some embroidery threads that someone was selling. i had the option to pay the paypal fee myself or charge it to the person selling the threads. i paid it myself, it was just a bit of a shock just to send £10
PayPal sometimes does charge for certain international purchases. I'll have to look at their TOU for that to be sure, though. I've only ever used PayPal to send/receive money from the US, though I have had some Canadian customers, but I always receive the right amount.
Did you get a Tophatter invite yet? If not, I can probably invite you through my account
